Honestly I still trust them, but I'm kind of on the "I like what they've been doing to highlight Cloud's issues for the obvious payoff coming in part 3" side of the fence...assuming what seems pretty obvious there is what they are going for (if its not, then what the fuck?). I've liked all the added story line behind Wutai/Empire "war", too. The Sarruf reveal should be pretty funny if some haven't figured it out, yet.

I'd definitely like to see more turn based FF still. But I also think Remake/Rebirth combat is fantastic and I'd like to see them keep iterating on systems like that, as well.

i started an FF10 playthrough recently. got to the point where you control the airship and now i'm only playing blitzball like god intended.

I think Aerith fading into the lifestream is kind of just how the reality in the games works. It's something that eventually has to happen so that the world can heal. Even in an alternate timeline she would eventually have to enter the lifestream, thus completing her cycle.

I could absolutely see as a sort of unlocked ending that you get to see her survive and live for a life, but she eventually still enters the lifestream, and probably before she's ancient(lol) because the world can't heal until she does.

If they don't have some sort of option where she at least gets to "live a life", there will be a lot of fans pissed. Pretty large number that thinks if there's any changes at all, it has to be so Aerith lives because clearly that has to be the only change that matters (I don't get that, but whatever). I kind of agree with theory of the subTXT guy on youtube, that the "good ending" might just be Aerith finally getting to fade away into the lifestream (already dead now, that is, just at the end of Part 3) where Sephiroth is finally gone somehow and she doesn't have to keep lingering in the lifestream endlessley like he did to oppose him.

I feel like I only ever play Blitzball later in the game and only to get Wakka's ultimate weapon. Just abusing Jecht Shot and Brother being unanswerable points, and then just running out the clock once you are ahead because Brother just levels up and sprints around like crazy. It's definitely one of the coolest non-triple triad minigames in any of the games, I just felt like the AI was either overtuned or undertuned depending on if you are early game or late game. I mean even when you get the airship and come back with Brother most the teams if you haven't been playing whenever you can are like 20-30 levels higher than you, and it doesn't matter because Jecht Shot. Until then, the enemy teams are just objectively better than the Aurochs on basically every level unless you get really good trade ups.

It's cool, but it was always just a means to an end for me.

nah if you do it right you don't play a single game of BB outside of the required one for story progression until you get the airship. then you do exhibition matches against teams you want to steal players from, forfeit once the match starts, nobody gains xp. bam you eventually have the perfect team with the entire league starting at minimum levels. commence rape.
