I was hoping for the flute because I don't have an aoe heal sb or hastega. Instead I got a healing rod so at least I have an aoe heal sb when I need one and 2nd defender. Defender has the same attack as other hero swords and has 5 defense so its got that going for it whether you use Steiner or not.

You can put Magic Lure on Steiner and either cast Reflect on him or have Auto-Reflect RM, he will bounce every single target spell back to the boss!

Draw Fire & Retaliate on Gilgamesh and you can only be hit by AoE

What's starting to annoy me about this game is the way it punishes you for being a completionist. No, I'm not talking about my ever increasing stack of accessories maxing out my inventory size, that's part of the game's spending mechanic, I get that.

I'm talking about fucking Record Materia. The list of useless record materia is just getting longer and longer and I hate having to wade through it all to get to the 10 worth using.

the JP client has a "favorite" record materia feature for that very problem. we'll get it in a few months.

I bought some gems previously, and everytime I see the "Special! 100 Gems for the first pull" I've been using them... got a 5* Variable Steel (X) from the pull. It's one of the "realm synergy". Are these decent outside of the realm-synergy stuff?

She is similar to Vivi where she is just a Black Mage but has high magic stats to compensate, give her a 4* single target spell and a 4* aoe spell. Personally I prefer hybrid characters with a more diverse skill set, so I'd instead use characters like Hope/Vanille who have lower stats but can bring things like Shell or Protect.

Do the 100 gem pull but all of your Mithril should either have been dumped for Eiko's relic or being saved for the next Thyrus (hopefully around Christmas). Holy trinity of AoE Haste/Stoneskin/Cure is what you should be aiming for, with Haste and Stoneskin being the top priorities as they are rarer. If you really want to pull, do it on the banner with Yuna's Lullaby Rod since it's AoE Cure and Regen.

One of Ramza's relics seems nuts. What is it, AoE Haste and AoE 50% attack up? They really went stupid crazy on the stone graphic too lol. Agrias and Ramza are INSANE characters with White Magic 4 and Support 4 together with DPS abilities.

Shame it doesn't have FF12 synergy but FF12 is rare for events anyway.

I've only got 100 Mythril at the moment and 8 dungeons to complete. I figure I'll have enough to do 3 pulls on the SSB Celebration if I choose. I've got the holy trinity covered: Sentinel Grimoire, Lullaby Rod for my group heal and Vega 42's for Shellga + Hastega. So my plan is to go after banners with really good physical weapons on realms where I'm lacking synergy for. Right now that means the Cutting Trigger Banner for sure and probably the Organics banner. My VII synergy is actually pretty good but DeNA loves Cloud so I figure if I managed to get his weapon I couldn't go wrong. I just wish they'd update the banners in their database so the data miners can pull what the banners are actually going to look like. The odds of the banners being the same as the Japan ones are almost zero since they've completely changed the other Celebration banners.

Alternatively I might just save all my Mythril and throw it all at Beatrix's Save the Queen because of reasons.

This game is triggering me right now. There are now two characters preventing a clean "break level cap" screen and they are flat out lies? Get your shit together Record Keeper!

Wow. I wiped on my first dungeon in months. The last Elite with Leviathan is brutally hard. Trash is ridiculous and his abilities are extremely annoying. It's hard to find a party composition able to mitigate all of them.

Leviathan is really tricky and I had no synergy. I brute forced it with Retaliate, my only change in strategy was Thundara Strike for Cloud and Dispel on a White Mage - considered Esuna but decided to trust S/L. So:
Cloud = Retaliate/Thundara Strike
Y'Shtola = Protectaga/Boost + Esuna/Cure Relic
Eiko = Curaja/Diaga + Haste/Cure Relic
Selphie = Shellga/Dispel
Wakka = Full Break/Armor Breakdown
Tyro RW = Sentinel Grimore
Had to S/L about 4 times to get a run without getting Petrified.

Now this is far from optimal I've since read. Gilgamesh makes the trash harder but Draw Fire/Retaliate stops Petrification. Reflect turns off Haste/Protect better than Dispelling them. Draw Magic and Reflect will get rid of the single target Blizzaras. Then all you have to worry about is the single AoE spell which I don't think it uses that often and does shit all damage through Sentinel Grimore/Full Break/Shellga (you can take Magic Breakdown too).

I finally got it. It was my first time using retaliate on trash ever. Getting to him was the hard part but he went down pretty easily. I used Gilgamesh to Draw Fire and Retaliate.

Cloud was using Thundara Strike and mental break
Yuna with Carbuncle and Diaga
Sazh with Magic Breakdown after 50% and venom buster
Rydia with Kirin (unnecessary for my successful run) and Thundaja
And Gilgamesh
