Not to mention that low level roulette is almost always going to be Dizmael Darkhold or one of the three newb dungeons, or a trial. Garuda on roulette with a new tank is not fun!

If you're on Gilg, yup. It's usually only a couple of minutes, but basically anytime from like 2pm pst until 8pm pst or so you'll probably hit a queue, especially after a patch.

Not sure I'll go the collector's edition. Just hit 32 on my first toon though, so my opinion may still change.

They showed the full Heavensward release trailer tonight (up until now, we've seen a shortened version) as well as an updated version of the original 2.0 cinematic that transitions seamlessly into the post-T12 cinematic.

It was amazing.

Here's the link to the full Heavensward trailer.Naturally, it is riddled with spoilers from the 2.55 MSQs, so don't even think about watching it unless you've finished that story. (Seriously, if you haven't done it yet, GO DO IT RIGHT NOW.)

Fantastic game and amazing trailer.

I haven't been this excited about an expansion to any MMO in a really long time. Their feature set for this expansion is strong with the best part being they're expanding/improving all the current systems in 2.0.

Short summary of what's coming in the expansion...
  • 1 New Race (Au Ra)
  • 1 New Raid: Alexander (Normal & Savage modes); Separate loot system between Alexander Normal and Savage.
  • 1 New Frontline PvP Map
  • 2 New Trials: Ravana & Bismarck (Normal & Hard modes)
  • 3 New Classes (Dark Knight, Astrologian, Machinist; Leveling starts at lv. 30)
  • 8 New Instanced Dungeons
  • 9 New Zones (50%-100% larger than 2.0 zones)
  • 50+ hours of New Story Content
  • 60 New Level Cap (Hand, Land, War & Magic)
  • DirectX 11 Client
  • Flying Mounts (Flying enable in all 3.0 areas; Build Free Company Airships; flying mounts run at 90% the speed of ground mounts and fly at 200%.)
  • Expansion of the Duty Finder (Syncing to lowest IL, New roulette types/conditions, smaller parties)
  • NEW: FATEs (Highlevel & Largescale), Levequest, Mounts, Quests for New Jobs (lv. ??-60), Quest for ALL Existing Jobs (lv. 50-60), Elite Marks, Unique Job Limit Breaks, Allagan Tombstones (Law & Esoterics), Specialist system, PvP Rewards, House Furnishings, Retainer Ventures, Expanded Sightseeing Log, Triple Triad Cards, Free Company Workshops, and more.

Flying mount demonstration, also provides perspective on new zone size:

When is this slated to come out?
Think June 23rd. Not sure if the console or PC differ from that date.

I've never played a MMO on a console (including D3), how does this play on PS4? I really wanted the Console Collector's edition for the statue and the goodies but wasn't sure how this work. Do you have to buy the original game and install and then purchase the expansion or just kick the expansion disc in as a new player (well I have existing characters on PC). I guess I need to investigate this further but bottom line, the console CE is very nice.

Full access/official launch day is June 23rd, all platforms (including Mac version). That said:

Pre-order FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward to play the game ahead of the official launch!
- Early access is scheduled to start on Friday, June 19, 2015. Please note that there is a possibility of maintenance taking place during the early access period.
- In order to enjoy the benefits of early access to Heavensward content, you need to be playing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn and have made sufficient progress in the main scenario. As such, early access will not be available to new players who pre-order the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online all-in-one bundle and have yet to begin their adventures.

You'd need to register the console version of the base game as well as the expansion. Licenses do not transfer between console and PC, which is a shame because they did with FFXI.

Ah man... that kinda stinks. Does everyone prefer the PC version? Most things that I have read says the PS4 version was good and probably one of the best MMO's to console yet but nothing that would make be change from PC.

My wife plays on PC while I play on ps4. She's a crafter so prefers PC anyway. I don't tradeskill so there isn't that many UI options to toggle through to get to where I need to be. All the macros for tanking I've tried work just fine on keeping agro so far too. I may eventually get a keyboard for typing, that's the only thing that bugs me.

There isn't really a clear difference, both play on the same servers and shit. You can play with a pad on PC and you can use a keyboard on PS4(you definitely want to). You can use some app for teamspeak/mumble on your phone too, so mostly the main difference, assuming you do have a phone or a laptop you can run voice off is the lack of DPS meter for PS4. Oh and the PC runs kinda better, especially if you don't have a SSD on your PS4 but do on your PC, but if you have an older PC it'd run worse I guess.

So yeah it's really more or less the same. The PS3 version is garbage but the PS4 version is fine. You can find the base game for PS4 for kinda cheap too, but not as cheap as the PS3(which you can't upgrade for free anymore since the 1st of april).

I wish there were alternate quest lines or something for leveling up other classes. Doing levis over and over is annoying as fuck.

Eh, aside from getting to 15 so you can start queueing for dungeons, Leves are basically meant for crafters/gatherers. Running Fates while queuing for dungeons/guildhests and working on your hunting log will be faster pretty much all the time. I mean yeah, you can do them, but there are faster/better ways to gain xp. If you hate Fates and Dungeons though, Leve it up~!

Plays differently but fairly easy. I play on the PS4 and on my PC since I have both linked and it's only one sub. I am very casual though. The only thing I found frustrating with the PS4 version is targeting. I lock on to a target accidentally and then move to kill something else, and even after I unlock, it fires back to the same previously locked target. That gets really infuriating. But other than that, it's great when you are going through traditional combat/gameplay while on a recliner and big screen. I hardly ever talk with anyone in the game so that doesn't even matter.

With that's said I also play the PC version when I feel like having more control and interacting more. I still have not joined a company, and am only level 15. I still have not tried crafting, or the first dungeon but need too.

If I were you, you can easily find FF14 on sale somewhere for like 19 bucks. Register it to your PC account and you can play both that way.

I talk with everyone all the time, so my PC is basically a must for this game. Granted, I heal everything but Coil (and only because I haven't clicked it on duty finder) so I need to have a bit more hands on approach to my gameplay. Plus it makes it very difficult to tell jokes if you have to use the PS4 text interface. I mean I know I can connect a keyboard, but I already have a computer.
