Live letter happened

1) Patch comes out end of April
2) Beastmaster will come in a later sub patch. Can tame up to 50 things, can have 3 out at a time, level 50 cap. Will have a special instance they can join as well
3) Housing furniture: 50% increase on limits inside, 100% increase outside. “TARDIS” feature will be later (ie, can have mansion interior in a small house). They confirmed they want to improve UI to allow easier floating of stuff (no date).
4) dyes being consolidated into generic dye item that can apply colors. Exception is store dyes and their ingame counterparts (like pure white dye) - those stay the same
5) Armoire will be able to store dungeon sets

They didn’t reveal much about MSQ, but based on screenshots we are going back to Garlemond, a certain emo plushie from last patch will meet our character, and the loporits are involved somehow. They did confirm this patch will begin to hint at next expac and fanfest will confirm more obviously (fanfest happens a few days before 7.5)

There were a bunch of stuff they said they're keeping for the fanfest so not that much was shown. New Ultimate is confirmed but the theme will be revealed in the fanfest for example.

On inventory QoL, apparently you'll be able to store all dungeon sets in the armoire, which is infinite iirc? So should free up A TON of glamour slots if you're into that. Still has the annoying step of actively having to drop in there instead of just being a yes/no boolean glamour menu somewhere whenever you loot an item but should fix most concerns.

Also BLU confirmed to not get an update in 7.x, pushed back to 8.x(maybe?). BST "took too much work" so they couldn't do it, aka SE being stingy with the money again.

BST looks like it'll be a "real" solo class, you can summon 3 beasts and the new special content for it is presented as a mini rogue-like map(like with branches and stages like rest/treasure/monster/elite) and entirely soloable. It's unclear how it'll work in normal group content though, like if you'll be restricted on beasts or if the beasts will count as player(so you can do 8man content with only 2 BST?), more on BST later obviously. Class counts as melee DPS which might be relevant for stuff like savage target priority, unlike BLU which is usually pure RNG fiesta when you have to solve mechs which is annoying.

The 2 relics they've shown(DNC and VPR) also looked very good. Well subjective as usual but I haven't found any of the previous ones this expansion to be particularly great.

Kind of underwhelmed with BST/BLU news. 1-50 only for BST means it'll very much just be its own thing and not be used the way BLU was so effectively at times doing pieces of other relic content. No BLU at all until 8.X is a little rough.

The dungeon sets being able to be stored in armoire is obviously great. Still waiting on separate relic weapon storage when.

It's funny how few people believed patch would drop the very next Tuesday after Fanfest. That 19 week schedule continues to be followed.

Can someone explain “dungeon sets” thing?

The armor sets you get in dungeons, starting with 7.5 and beginning with all DT dungeons, we will be able to place armor sets into the armoire, with previous dungeons being added over time, it's just gonna take some time for them to go thru the database and make sure everything is correctly set.

Blue mage started out as 1-50 only as well - it took years for them to boost the level cap to current levels

It did, but at the time the level cap was only 70 (Stormblood). Also by the end of the very next expansion it was brought up to where it was just 10 levels under the cap by the end of the expansions (BLU got 2 updates during Shadowbringers, 5.15 and 5.45). This allowed it to be 70 at end of ShB (level 80 cap) and the 6.45 update brought it up to 80 with the level 90 cap of EW. BST only going to 50 when the level cap is 100 seems quite a bit different, not to mention the almost entirely solo play style it seems to likely encourage. One of the great things about BLU during ShB was how they were able to link so many different bits of content together for the BLU updates along with Bozja relic quests. I don't foresee all that much for BST other than it being it's own thing, and unless they want to do some 51-90 jump in 8.0 expac, I doubt it'll be relevant for any other content for a long while.

Knowing BST taking resources away from BLU to delay it as well just means both might suffer a bit. Hopefully they still come up with good content for BST, though.

I don't see it as the "end" for blue mage updates, it just took a lot more work then what was initially thought in order too add an actual pet based class into the game..

I'm pretty sure that with Beastmaster at the tail end of development both jobs will continue to be updated thru the rest of the game, + whatever extra limited jobs they add.

It's just now they have a lot more tools for future job ideas, not just for limited jobs but actual pet jobs could be introduced into the game. Puppetmaster/Real Summoner etc etc.

I don't think they'll keep adding that many limited jobs tbh, they're probably going to have trouble maintaining the 2 they have currently already so I'd be surprised if we saw more later cause they need to keep giving them updates after making them.

1-50 was expected though, it's also not bad cause that leaves them with a lot of room to fix issues like they did with BLU. 50 BLU was complete dogshit but after all the feedback they got they gave them a ton of interesting tools in 60 and 70 cap(the solo stance, the tank/healer specific tools and such) that made them a lot more interesting.

They could also add "content" by just allowing them to queue for deep dungeons, even if they give them a different title than Necromancer and such for soloing them. I guess this is another spaghetti code issue.

For future updates, the "optimal" way to do them would be like 8.15 BLU update, 8.35 BST update, 8.55 BLU+BST update, but we'll see how many ressources they devote to them.

Yeah I just wonder if we'll ever see 2 updates in an expansion again. Since they seem to like to do the variant dungeons sprinkled in, along with exploration gameplay like the island from EW or the current cosmic exploration in DT. I don't foresee any of the basics like Allied Societies or Hildrabrand going anywhere (thought I doubt Hild takes that many resources).

Hildibrand probably uses resources for animation mostly, although they will recycle some of it into the MSQ.

I do wonder what the exploration gameplay will be like in the next xpac - probably too early to make another Occult/Bozja-like zone again and I don't see them doing another crafting focused one right now. Island Sanctuary was ok, but it was pretty grindy and repetitive until you got to a point where the robots could just do most of your farming for you.

The backlash was pretty strong when they didn't have a Eureka/Bozja/OC zone for EW. I'd imagine they feel like they need to do one. Hell a lot of people don't like that it's still mostly just tome farming for the relics even with the zone existing.

It was part they didn't like the "tomes 4 relics" model in EW and in part they wanted an area to grind for something.

I personally think the new Beastmaster instance might be a clue on what we see in the next xpac - they say it is something that "hasn't been seen before" in the game, so it is possible they may expand upon that concept depending on what it looks like and make that the new relic grind area

With all the supposed Yoshi P talking about a "2nd Reborn" like ARR coming at some point, too, wouldn't surprise me if they look to change up some of the content loop that has become so regular as to be stale in many areas.

Yoshida has been saying a bunch of stuff and hyping up the fanfest keynote, hopefully they deliver something decent.

On a side note they showed more BST in today's stream.

You will not control 3 beasts at the same time, instead you select 3 and can rotate them during the fight. They also show up in town so expect a lot of behemoth and shit sitting on the bells.

It has a system somewhat similar to FFXI Renkei's system but alone, where you use a skill of a certain element, then a follow up of another element and it creates a special reaction, and there might be a system to chain the 4 different elements for an even bigger reaction but kinda unclear with the limited showing. There will be 50 beasts to tame, and they'll all be "soloable", although it's unclear how the ones that aren't normally soloable will be(they said quest or something, might be in the special mode). Beasts have multiple skills, like an "ultimate" that makes them leave the field, their own active skill and a skill you "borrow" from them and seems there's a bunch of variety. Capturing is basically the same as BLU, only you use a capture move thing and lower hp increases chance of capture, nothing special. They also mentionned another stream where they'll show more details "later" so it's unlikely to be early 7.5 but could be 7.52 maybe or something.

Also teaser for ultimate was Kefka, but that doesn't mean much, could be a medley of past FF bosses or something else.

hoping for the Triad + Kefka which would be awesome, but even if it's just Kefka and the Statue with all the things the new combat designer has done within dawntrail, I'm sure it's gonna kick everyone's ass for a long time.

My initial thought was they were going to do a big fight with all the past FF bosses they've already reused, Chaos, Cloud of Darkness(again), Zeromus, Neo Exdeath and Kefka. It could be a remake of the actual Triad and Kefka though as you mentionned since these are originally linked. I guess less likely it could be a mix of all the delta/alpha/sigmascape bosses minus Omega that they obviously already used. This would include Chaos, Exdeath+Neo Exdeath and Kefka so it wouldn't be too different from my initial idea, but they could also mix some other stuff(and maybe someone will supplex the phantom train?).

Anyway regardless of theme, ultimates are always enjoyable to watch so looking forward to that at least.

That would be to "much" for 1 fight.. Just the Triad + Kefka would be enough.

But we will see more at the US Fan Faire.
