I think ff14 pulls a lot of square Enix disasters with its money, rather than going back into its development

It 100% does, although that happens with lots of companies: One area does well, one doesn't, money from area that does well helps shore up the shortfalls of other areas rather than invest in the area doing well.

There is also a delicate balance between under and overfunding an area.

On a side note, cool interview with Koji Fox where he talks about developing the game and localization.

I believe that is the whole reason for FF14 going after the Modded client thing(Mare Lament??? whatever, I don't use mods), even Yoshi stated it after the initial C&D was posted, they are protecting the game its self it has nothing to do with anything else. Also at the time all the credit processing business were being hounded by fucking morons, cause "They didn't like this game on steam.. etc etc".

As far as the blood thing though.. who knows I really don't understand the disdain for any kind of violence fake or real.

I think fundamentally the story telling was solid in FF14 but I felt the overall gameplay sort of sucked outside dungeons. They needed to weave in more combat into the MSQ somehow.
