We don't know.

My guess whatever they call the medium-mode won't require evolved(but can be used to make thing "easier"), but Savage/Ultimate will REQUIRE it.
meta is gonna be the meta- but that's contrary to their statement about everything being able to be cleared by both. I just think it's a weird edge case that could be solved by having that split apply to both modes. Seemed to have worked out with the healer split more or less.

I see what they posted as a point of getting the idea across..

It sounds like the system is working toward more customizable job's. What they posted showing Pal/(Unknown Tank) as MT, and all other tanks as OT.

We don't know what the limitations(if there are any) will be, but my guess is they are just putting ideas out on the table, and wanting feed back(I'm guessing there is a lot more that is at the FanFaire, then what we have been shown thru the Dev stream)

Yeah, obviously it's stil being hammered out. Just seems like a weird gap. I kind of wish they had compared the reborn bard setup to the evolved one. Like the evolved bard demo, the dot was like 3 ticks. Dot flavor indeed? I assumed they skyrocket the potency to match. But is the og one still a dot stacking and rolling thing? Many questions.

I can't really see them keeping both modes long term.

Yoshida flat-out said, that all future jobs being added in the new expansion and beyond will only have evolved.

I'm really happy about the new tombstone equipment, now with glamours unlocked what is the point of doing the same gearing system over and over.

Later presentations specifically called out the 2 minute synergy cycle and needing to get rid of it. Both for class designs as well as fight designs.

Evolved mode also gives all buttons by level 50 to help with downsyncs, higher levels upgrade via traits/procs.

Chrono Trigger probably has several layers of copyright/IP bullshit so it wasn't super likely. Evangelion does collabs constantly(like every other gacha has an Evangelion collab) so much easier to get, similar to Nier which also has like 50 collabs. I really liked the Nier raid, the story was so so but the ambience and the fights were really great especially the big robots so I'm looking forward to Evangelion stuff a lot.
Nier Automathong xmog for everyone.

Yeah getting rid of the rote burst windows seems like an overdue change. The downsync complaints were rarely about the 50+ dungeons. It was getting stuffed into satasha at 20 or whatever if you didn't have an ae attack yet.

I can see Reborn mode getting phased out eventually based on player usage - the presentation of Evolved mode sold me even though they demonstrated on classes I don't use (bard looked sick). If they just got rid of reborn mode, the playerbase would have freaked out/complained.

Was really hoping for a non crossover raid, some more expanding on FF14 lore like they did with the Myths of a Realm giving us a idea of who the gods were and such.

I do want more information though. It sounds like they're thinking in the right direction...

I do find it funny how they were like "Just a warning we're killing PS4" Then later they're like "Btw FF14 is coming to Switch 2, and it's gonna need it's own separate subscription"

To be fair, they will likely get rid of it next expansion as long as Evolved isn't a complete flop. This is just a transitional thing so people can get used to it and they can refine it if there's big complaints, and then be like "ok now you switch cause we aren't going to keep making shit for the old mode". With so many classes no way they do 9.0 class changes for everything twice again.

I can't see it sticking around at all. They mentioned potency adjustments etc for it, but I can't imagine they'll keep 2 completely different sets of abilites going forward. Eg the dots for DRG and BRD shown in evolved mode. If the reborn mode is really what we're used to- those would both be designed to keep rolling forever. Not to be super short and fall off. If reborn mode has the same skills just with more keybinds or actually has the old gameplay loops probably needs to be verified.

That said It seems like a more extreme change than it actually is, they probably should have just pulled the bandaid off and not made it a choice.

Not that i see it happening really, but now they've left the opportunity for the player base to opt out for whatever reason which is just going to cause more drama down the line. Opting out for spite will be a thing.

I wonder what the deal with the size limitations on the ps4 actually is about. Some kind of hard coded jail size is my guess. But i've only ever seen it mentioned with ff14 that I can recall.

Read an interview excerpt with YoshiP - part of the reason he didn't want to just get rid of "Reborn" mode was because he remembered when SOE did the combat overhaul in SWG and didn't give people a choice and tons of people hated it. I love that old MMO shit from over 2 decades ago ago still influences him lol

7.5 story stuff

So shard destablization due to killing Zodiark and Hydalean was easy to predict, although I didn't guess Halmarot's plan was "Ascian rejoining plan is the only solution, otherwise everything literally dies". I also find it interesting that the Winterer group are basically a bunch of people all in it for themselves, but they still serve the greater purpose of preserving some life. Azem's Key (Ethos) will no doubt be how we solve everything. My guess: Calyx at the end of the MSQ story basically tells you that they all have their own end goal and they all feel the ends justify the means, because humanity will ultimately benefit. I think all of this is building towards the WoL/Azem sacrificing themselves to save everyone ultimately. Might take a bunch of expansions, but I wouldn't be shocked if we merge with all the Azem shards, basically become Azem again, we travel back in time to set all the plans in motion as sort of a closed timeloop/predestination paradox thing (living as Azem in the past), then we sacrifice ourselves to stabilize all the "rejoined" shards (by creating stable gateway connections through our travels).

Wuk Lamat was such a shit character that she literally drove the characters to a different world.

Waiting till September to resub for beast master. I normally love leveling jobs but I don't know what it is about Dawntrail this expansion just... it's not clicking, really hoping Evercold hits the Heavensward or Shadowbringers mark.

Since we only have 7.5 and the xpac teaser to work with
We essentially have two people providing us information while stating their personal viewpoints. Halmarut has an attachment to people and was very unhappy with Zenos, but is daring us to step in possibly because she can't accomplish something on her own. Calyx meanwhile proclaims his personal distaste for the Winterer from the 4th and would actually want us to master the key to head over and stop them.

But this sets up the obvious question of who the Winterer of the 4th is and which objectionable method are they doing. Well the only options we have from the teaser are the granny+kid (unlikely), the Wanderer of Silver (which is us or the local sundered Azem), and then the two Au Ra with the guy watching the girl get dusted into ice particles before the world tree. Well he's a candidate and that is an odd thing occuring for a specific purpose, so I figure the male Au Ra is the Winterer of the 4th and the primary bad for arc A of the xpac. The lead in before this scene is showing the frozen world tree and "we had no choice but to flee to the sky" ending with the man looking upwards after the girl is gone. Perhaps that process is their version of the Endless on the 4th they ice dust people to steal their aether and pop out a copy in the sky completely unaware they are fueling the frozen calamity and hastening a rejoining.

Stopping that doesn't fix the 4th and it doesn't cause a rejoining, it's only fulfilling Calyx's desire to stop the guy. So arc B has to be finding a way to rejoin without nuking part of the source and save the people of the 4th which Halmarut would actually approve of
