Big takeaways

1) New Job: Zephyr. Basically the pink cat girl showed parts of the job last patch. Looked kind of meh to me personally
2) 24 man alliance raids getting chopped into 2 different instances you queue for. They are also redoing how you get rewards for it to avoid situations where you run the raid and nothing you can use drops
3) Adding savage alliance raids - 8 man, will be savage versions of old raids and new raids
4) Gauntlet of Power - randomized boss rush thing that pulls from all dungeon bosses in the game
5) Ways to upgrade gear - a combo of a "battlepass/achievement" style thing along with item gathering. Sounds like it is doing away with tome farming.
6) Gathering/upgrading some gear sets can activate special appearance effects on your weapon (relic-like?)
7) The housing updates will be 8.1 or 8.2, including the ability to float stuff without using glitches/programs (that one might be later)

Interesting they will let raid gear get +20 and 3 advanced meld slots each season. Crafting is "involved" in the second +10 but they did not say exactly what place any crafted combat sets would have in the new system.
My guess is crafting sets will be the same as the casual sets for completing the battlepass stuff, but instant unlocks. I assume they might also remove overmelding entirely and instead the whole second upgrade with crafted material will replace the gold making opportunity from crafting sets for every class+selling materias. Interestingly it'd shift the money making opportunity from the even patches to the odd patches.

Some of the changes in gearing look interesting. For example upgrading the "tome gear" equivalent doesn't need savage anymore but can be done via the new mid difficulty.

The daily/weekly changes also look nice, every activity gives a set amount of points and you can do whatever you feel like to get your weekly amount of points. Once maxed, you can also start getting points for the weeks you didn't finish before(Warframe has a similar system for their battlepass thing and it's really neat when you take a break/come back). Currently tomes KINDA work like that but some activities just don't reward shit unless you nolife. Hope they rescale values so even doing other stuff works better.

Overall all these system changes look nice. Being able to pick your order for the MSQ, content scaling to you(which I'm sure they'll keep adding to old systems), only needing one set of gear for every class, easier casual gear with the mid difficulty raids, more relaxed weekly progression without the need for dailies. New job looks like whatever to me but that's ok, with evolved there's going to be a lot of jobs to play anyway. Delayed release is less nice though, I was planning my stuff for january, guess I'll need to find a game to play inbetween.

Excited about seeing job changes but I assume that's going to be in a live letter in a month or two though. They said it's finished though so hopefully they do it soon.

During the keynote they mentioned they'll talk more about the upcoming live letters, so I suspect those live letters will showcase all the jobs (they usually do that every xpac - typically to show off new abilities but in this case evolved mode as well) and also reveal the Ultimate raid.

They did say that sometime in the future, they are doing a very long stream going over Evolved mode exclusively .. That is gonna be a interesting day rofl.

Really nice to see, that all the testing on the japan data center went relatively smoothly, Cross-DC for NA//EU on the 10th patch.

Day 2: Fishing bait / tacklebox rework may no longer take up inventory space. Island Sanctuary may be revisited / updated in the future. Poetics as a system going away.

Oh that's nice - I do hate how there are a bunch of different baits you have to use on things like fishing expedition and they eat into your inventory that could be used for catches

Reddit summary of an interview released recently too

Notably Duty Roulette consolidated into fewer categories(I assume merging some of the dungeon stuff, maybe raid/trial roulette merging and such), crafted gear is actually between the casual and raid gear which seems a bit weird as there would be no point in the casual gear and upgrading it if you can just craft gear at the same ilvl? Might be more to it

We are going from 790 to 840 which is the typical xpac jump. But initial xpacs have leveling dungeons, AF gear, the uncapped tome sets, not to mention starter trial accessories followed by mid-tier trial weapons and normal raid gear. Is that all covered by activity level? Or none of it. Glamour still needs to exist otherwise we are doing [insert instance] only for possible orchestra roll drops.

Is it lower ilevel for the first two weeks of activities? Can you even get a full set in two weeks? Lot of question marks.

AF gear hasn't been relevant for a few expansion it just replaces 99 dungeon gear and leveling/AF will be the same since they're precap. Uncapped tome gear is very likely gone, if they're taking out poetics and capped tomes, no reason to have uncapped tomes. They might have AF fill that role instead with a post MSQ upgrade.

For the EX and normal raid gear I'd expect they're still there the same way. The casual gear is capped tome gear, so it'll likely be better than both but it'll take a few weeks to get so farming content will still be needed to prep for savage day1.

As for the numbers I wouldn't fixate on that as the stuff they've shown could just be placeholder numbers they hadn't adjusted perfectly yet.

Casual gear is free, crafted isn't. Early in the content cycle a set of HQ crafted gear will set you back millions.
