I mean it would have to be a prequel to the movies or Wash is out..and everyone is old as fuck so how they going to sell that? Animated would be my guess, which could work REALLY well but who knows...

The youngest cast member is Jewel Staite at 44. Ron Glass has been dead for a decade. Adam Baldwin is probably pretty widely blacklisted in the industry due to his open conservatism and support for Trump.
Being prematurely cancelled is probably the best thing that ever could have happened to most of the cast of Firefly. Objectively speaking the show is just ok but Fox's bungling and cancellation of the series rapidly elevated it to cult classic status. I'm about as interested in any kind of live-action rehash of Firefly as I am in the latest revival of Futurama (of which I have watched precisely zero).

Alan and Nathan's podcast is great for popcorn listening, and you can tell that the series very deeply affected all of the cast when they talk about it. I think that I would like them to try and reboot it because everyone that cares about it would like to see the attempt.
Also, they never dealt with anything like cloning in the original series; but it would be fun to see Wash just back with no explanation for the first few episodes and then have him acting a little strange. They could do something about him being cloned, but it is notoriously finnicky and prone to error. I would accept that to get Alan back for a renewal.

They should do a continuation.
It could take place after the next great war caused by what was revealed in the movie. Use the older cast to bring in a new cast and have them work together.
You could even have a new nemesis character that would actually be the son of Shepherd Book.
As discussed Walsh could be brought back via twin brother, Clone, or resurrection technology.
So many stories could be told that would link back to the original series and then carry it forward with stories that revolve around "Hands of Blue" or River Tams daughter..
