Farscape will come back any day now…

…any day…
If you watch Seaquest vs Farscape it is an incredible case study of what a show lead can accomplish with vs without upper management meddling. It is almost hard to believe Rockne S. O’Bannon had anything to do with DSV.

I donno, isn't it like remembering bonerifically Britney in Hit me baby, then seeing her juggeling knives in a psychotic post miscarriage tik-tok almost 30 years later? Same-but-not-the-same. I'll watch, but I wont like it.

I do want to know if Joss Whedon will be involved. Like the Buffy reboot, his stories and writing are what helped shape the series. I would still watch it if the old characters came back, but I would be worried as to the level of the writing.

Different imo

Both awesome
I agree, not that I don't like Firefly but Farscape is far superior. I mean it only had one of the best TV or movie villains ever with Scorpius.

I'll rewatch it every few years. It was also back in the Glory Days when TV seasons used to be 20-something episodes.

Other than.. Sci-Fi they just are too different - perhaps Dark Matter is a good match up to FireFly yet still both ended early… even Farscape ended early.

Heck I kind of put Lexx up to more like Farscape than Firefly is like it.

Firefly has an advantage and disadvantage because it was cut super short… but like it or not the movie is the wrap up of the og’s arch - just like end of GoT is the ending even if we dont like the how it got there.

But this is just ramblings - any of the 4 shows I just mentioned I could go for a rewatch almost anytime…

DSV went off the rails in the later seasons. 1st season was mostly "grounded" stuff - geopolitics and sea pirates and helping with disasters/rescues (basically normal Navy stuff cept in the future!). Then 2nd season started to introduce shit like time travel and aliens and Roy Scheider said "fuck this" and left the show. Then they replaced him with Michael Ironside for the final season and also some other cast members, but the ratings were in the dumpster and it got canceled. I remember they used Video Toaster for the CGI in the show, which a lot of those 90s shows also used because it was a cost effective way to make CGI effects at the time.

I think O'Bannon later produced Defiance on Syfy. I actually liked that show - it could be uneven at times because it had difficulties juggling storylines and the planned game/show synergy sort of stopped after the 1st season for the most part after the game flopped, but the lore and worldbuilding were pretty awesome (basically an alien colonization fleet arrives at Earth after traveling for centuries at subluminal speeds and eventually humans and the aliens begin to fight and alien terraforming technology accidently goes rogue after the alien fleet blows up and and massively changes the Earth and basically everyone is living in a post-apocalyptic world with pockets of civilization). In the later seasons the budget got so bad at times I'm pretty sure Seaquest had better CGI.

I watched a dark matter when I was laid up after my accident and it was pretty good. I never got around to killjoys, but it's supposed to be pretty decent.

Lexx I remember seeing originally on Showtime, especially with the titties, but then it kind of grew when Syfy picked it up, and it was a great show for just being so damn bizarre. I never caught a lot of the episodes and the ass end when they go to Earth, but I still remember that screwed up episode where 790 got possesed by the gay rapist body he put his head on, and he was trying to get to Stanley's goods. The goddamn disco ball!
