I am having dejavu or something...or my memories are just naturally mixed and blended...but I remember some other show (or was it also this show previously) that did a big hype cycle and got tons of the OG crew and I remember even actually sitting down and watching the podcast or whatever reveal live, and it was... a comic book (as others have said...so perhaps?)
This has more hype work to it. I just do not see them going through all this for a comic book or Animation. I guess they could do that but that would be a major letdown. On the flip side, if it were an animation, age would not be a factor per say. I would of course prefer live action. Highly doubt a comic book....

I'm getting the feel this is going to be a podcast. He was on the one Brent Spiner and Johnathan Frakes do with Tyduk recently. It would be an easy slam dunk for them.

While that was cool, he already rebuked the podcast guess. Same with it being a comic con special, or a crossover episode.

If this is an actual show and not just some stupid podcast, and Alan Tudyk is involved, then it obviously has to be set before the events of Serenity. Given the huge age difference between now and then, I'm betting this will be an animated series.

The youngest cast member is Jewel Staite at 44. Ron Glass has been dead for a decade. Adam Baldwin is probably pretty widely blacklisted in the industry due to his open conservatism and support for Trump.

Being prematurely cancelled is probably the best thing that ever could have happened to most of the cast of Firefly. Objectively speaking the show is just ok but Fox's bungling and cancellation of the series rapidly elevated it to cult classic status. I'm about as interested in any kind of live-action rehash of Firefly as I am in the latest revival of Futurama (of which I have watched precisely zero).
I don't really get the hype. I had never watched it and started last year. I've watched 9 episodes so far, and I believe only 11 originally aired. It's an interesting concept of a space western, but the plotlines aren't anything super interesting. The cast seems decently likeable. But I honestly have no clue what made people like it so much.

In fact, I'm not really surprised it got cancelled. Sci-fi isn't really a huge draw to begin with, and this just seemed like a weird mashup. And I don't know that anything in the next 5 episodes would somehow make it some otherworldly show that deserves such massive praise.

I started ep1 this morning and felt bad knowing it's going to end. Fox killed a lot of interesting Sci-fi shows that were not on long enough to get their legs under them. I recall one with the guy out of the boys in it with an android or something?

I'm not saying the show is bad. Just undeserving of the cult status. Which is what I was quoting Gavin's post about.

In fact, I did some reading after my post, and it seems like the entire reason people liked the show so much was the potential it had to be a great show. Not even so much about what it actually was. And really that's what Gavin's post was hitting at. The reason it's got cult status is because they didn't air long enough to fuck it up.

Episode 10 and 12 are IMO peak Mal and crew. Once you watch 12 watch some bloopers of the last scene, if you don’t love the crew after that I got nothing.

Almost Human. And yes, Karl Urban was awesome in it, and the show was getting good.

Could just be the hype didn't meet your expectations, which can make a show seem even worse. It can be difficult to go into anything late, when you hear so many good things about a show/movie that put in sky high expectations whether you are conscience of them or not.

There have been a handful of movies like that over the years for me, but the only one I can recall off-hand is Kingdom of Heaven, Directors cut. I never watched the movie before and jumped straight into the directors cut thinking that it would be great, not having been tainted by the original. It was a fine movie, but not one I want to watch more than once...

As for Firefly, I didn't watch it when it aired, but more like ~2010 - 13, when there was good word of mouth but not seemingly revered like it is now. I liked the show a lot, for what it is. Can't think too hard about the space aspect of it. I also watched Firefly before Babylon 5 and The Expanse, both of which take some of the shine off Firefly as a space show.

Agree, it's alright, interesting points but characters are kinda flat. It mostly feels made for young adults, nothing overly dark or serious, nothing like game of thrones for example, just supposedly rough neck seedy characters who are actually good at heart. Storylines are mostly simple.

In some episodes their guns sound like lasers, and in some they sound like regular revolvers, thats weird.
