I’d say that’s about right for Supernatural although there were cool lore bits and characters beyond that. It was mostly that the writers went back to the “Sam and Dean hate each other this week” well about 406 too many times. We get it, brothers fight, but for literal Christ’s sake, get over it.

That's why they had seasons with Cas and Crowley and Bobby as part of the main cast. The first 5 seasons were the best by far, but they were still printing money for the CW for the next 10 seasons.

I know people wanted live action, but unless they’re doing a 20 years later sequel to Serenity, it was the most budget friendly option. Like Babylon 5

I think there is a rule of thumb when it comes to sequels. If its been more than 5 years, the chances of it sucking shit increases.

The main issue I have with firefly being rebooted ( as much as I enjoyed serenity and the series itself) is that they literally cancelled firefly to make way for shittier reality TV shows ( lower budget and normies tuned into those more). This is the sort of choices that they make. Short term profit.

There was tons of demand for the show after it cancelled, each attempt to revive anything that was palleatable to audiences ( not board games and the other bullshit etc) was shit on or struck down.

The only reason they are interested in rebooting it is because studios are running out of things to offer viewers. So they will put minimal effort in to guarantee that profit. They dont even care that its going to be likely seeded with political bullshit either because its going to more or less be a rugpull anyhow.

So yes this is guaranteed to fucking suck.

Lets skip the fact that its been 20 years since Serenity, the possibility of Jayne being sidelined or written out entirely due to Baldwin being loudly conservative, and the likelihood of heavy handed allegory to current culture war bullshit being injected into every other episodes.

Marc Guggenheim's track record (the showrunner) is fucking terrible.

Arrow - the shining star of his resume due to it starting with 2-2.5 quality seasons before the subsequent 5.5-6 increasingly terrible seasons
Legends of Tomorrow - couple decent episodes sprinkled throughout 4 shitty seasons
Supergirl - fantastic pilot episode followed by 6 years of being a non-stop SJW dumpster fire
Carnival Row - excellent visuals and world building, nonstop heavy handed and shitty writing about inequality

RIP Nicholas Brendan, who played Xander on Buffy. Guy was only 54. Last time I saw him he was on Doctor Phil, and seemed like he had a lot of problems. That's a damn shame.

Been binging the whole show for the first time right now with about 10 episodes left. This was a bummer to read over the weekend. And the reboot being cancelled too. Buffy universe had one shitty week lol.
