lol there is literally nothing in that trailer that is from the books other than names of characters. the actor playing the mule looks familar, oh shit he played that Euron guy on Game of Thrones

still looks fun in a stupid way, sort of a combo of mass effect (shitty decisions) and Tron. wait until the full season drops and then binge it for very forgettable, dumb sci fi

its weird apple TV is dropping expensive shows like this in July, with Disney, Amazon, and Netflix all cutting back hard on programming you'd think apple would space things out a bit more. summer used to be the time to catch up on everything.

what a crazy time for sci fi fans though, between Fallout, Silo, Severance, Star Trek, Andor, 3 Body Problem on and on there is just such a massive amount on TV. crazy. I wonder why there isn't more Cyberpunk yet.

Most of these shows are hot garbage outside of Fallout though. No budget. No special effects. Just people talking. Could be any dumb soap opera.

This show is a major guilty pleasure. It's objectively pretty shitty, but I can't help enjoy it on some weird level. It's probably just because I'm a sucker for sci-fi and Lee Pace fucking kills it in every scene.

How bad is this? I’m reading the Foundation series and thought I’d check it out, but it looks like it’s a DEI mess. Characters gender swapped, story doesn’t match the book characters. Did they just take the setting and characters, and make up a story?

As a non book reader, it's half bad half great. The storyline is split between two planets. One shitty, one great.

Love it or hate it that season 3 trailer looked like some of the best stuff the show has done.

It's annoying when we go away from the emperor to the black chick.

AppleTV is definitely worth subbing to for a few months to cruise through their shows. Most of their shows are really good , even the stuff I'm not interested in.

Lee Pace has been killing it the entire series with his portrayals of the different versions of Day, You could credibly argue that Pace and the actress playing Demerzel are single handedly carrying the whole thing. Wife and I watched the first couple episodes of S3 and our reaction was pretty much "Where has this level of story been the last two seasons?". But then we realized that its because space magician strong woman of color character was largely absent and several aspects of the third season are running closer to the source material. Yeah Empire is fabricated for the show, but the core aspects of the Mule and the third crisis stuff is all there, at least in the first couple episodes we have seen. The biggest issue this show has are the two charisma vacuum magicians it spent so much time on and that Empire (especially Pace) is the most entertaining part of the show.

Mule is going to be an issue, because in the books his motivations beyond one note anarchist bad guy were never really explained (by design), but if they make some shit up to fill in that gap its never going to be able to meet fan expectations. For now, the guy playing the Mule is killing it at least. I can see ways this ends up awesome, but I can also see some typical pitfalls they end up having with the story. For better or worse, this season is the best so far and Apple TV has been on a hot streak lately. I remain cautiously optimistic.

I think most people would agree that the Empire + Android storyline is by far the strongest part of the entire series.

They are definitely the reason I'm watching. I don't give a shit what happens to the rest of show.
