From that 2005 paper:

"No gene has yet been conclusively linked to intelligence, so attempts to provide a compelling genetic link of race to intelligence are not feasible at this time. The authors also show that heritability, a behavior-genetic concept, is inadequate in regard to providing such a link."

Things have changed since then. A lot.

Molecular Psychiatry - GWAS meta-analysis reveals novel loci and genetic correlates for general cognitive function: a report from the COGENT consortium
Molecular Psychiatry - Genome-wide association study of cognitive functions and educational attainment in UK Biobank (N=112[thinsp]151)
Genome-wide association studies establish that human intelligence is highly heritable and polygenic

Scientists have used statistical analyses to show a correlation between certain genes and intelligence, sure. But leaving aside questions of causation, as well as that "intelligence" is a nebulous term -- as are the metrics applied to quantify it -- not a single one of those articles mentions race. Ethnicity is mentioned in one, by way of stating they specifically tested a single ethnic group. There is no data showing that the standard deviation and mean intelligence for one race differs from that of another; in the absence of data it is erroneous to assume that the distribution of intelligence differs across ethnic groups. There is no reason to assume something as polygenetic as intellect would vary with skin color; like any phenotype for which multiple genes are responsible, recombination comes into play.
