I had to look up Mercator Projection, and I won't lie and say I wasn't nervous it was something controversial.

But what I ultimately learned is that Africa is all situated closer to the equator than I thought. I think in my head I thought Africa stretched towards the south pole as much as South America, but as you can see by that chart it does not and is widely equatorial.
