Initially I thought why were you so sure it would fall into the ocean? To my eye at first it didn't appear there hadn't been any erosion; it was a difference in angle and the picture composition that led to the differences. The more I read, however, there have been a number of large earthquakes (1989 San Francisco for one) and was some mention of some coastal erosion, although I can't find anything specific for measurements in the relatively short time I have been looking re: the Cliff House. It was a super interesting question to explore, with the Sutro Baths (once the world's largest indoor swimming pools area) right next door that also burned down, etc, so thanks for that.
