As much as I enjoy greedy and incompetent studios failing, it still saddens me to see bungie willingly descend into the abyss. I can faintly remember the glow of passion that was poured into Halo: Reach and the map editing tools when it was released. After that I feel like they began down the dark path of failed promises and less innovative game design, regression of features and trend chasing, starting with Halo 4 being a CoD game wearing Halo's skin (complete with literal Killstreaks).

You are spot on. It's more than games, it's the entire companies. They are nothing but corporate skinsuits Rehashing, Remaking, and poorly Regurgitating things made by Better Men.
I mourned their passing years ago, like I did my TV shows and movies.
Art has lost the Pursuit of Truth because Truth, in this day and age, would rightly cause revolt; and for me, Art without Truth is as useful as previously-eaten food.

I've never stood on the shoulders of giants in my own field, but if I did, I would do my best not to shit on their crowns.
It's like watching a good friend turn to drugs. You'll always cherish the memories and their past potential but you just can't associate with them anymore.
