Don't know where else to post this, so it goes here.

I'm going to make a bold prediction: The next Forza, Need for Speed, or Grand Turismo game will use a gacha system like Genshin Impact except for cars instead of characters.

You will buy packs under certain banners like classic/modern/concept, and the common tier cars will be like Ford, Nissan, Hondas, the epic tier will be like BMW, Audi, Porche, and the sub 1% drops will be legendary cars like Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Ferrari.

Obviously higher tiers will have better stats for acceleration and top speed, and collecting duplicates of the same car will let you upgrade the brakes, drift, handling. Upgrading the lower tiers might increase their main stats so that they stay somewhat competitive to the higher tier cars so that casuals and FTP are still on a (barely) level playing field with whales.

You can stuff the banners full of cosmetics as well.

I guess Forza kinda did this with wheelspin, but you could get cars from the base game right? so that was just optional. I'm thinking a game actually built around it.

I am just envisioning a way they'll do it that is successful. All they really need to do is balance the cost vs. reward so that people think they're getting a deal on a free to play game that adds new content periodically, and you can make progress either completely FTP or only spending a few bucks a month on pulls, but still lets whales go crazy and be able to show off with like gold plated skins.

A game that does this correctly without going overboard to push away the casual market could make the model work.

I see that the newest Mafia game is out soon. How are the older games in the series?

All Mafia Definitive version are 85% off right now. Tempted to get them and do a playthrough of all of them if they are good games. I never really had any of them on my radar before.

Worth playing Mafia 1-3?
Loved Mafia 2, Mafia 1 is also a really cool and interesting game worth checking out but it's more linear. Mafia 3 was just alright, sort of a mediocre GTA wannabe sort of game, not exactly bad but I would focus on the first two.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Forza or NFS did something ridiculously shitty like this because EA and Microsoft are apparently retarded these days and seem to openly embrace the worst ideas anyone could come up with. I think GT is going to stick to what it's been doing with GT7 though, it's really become the standard for racing sims these days and has a very dedicated following of real enthusiasts.

Forza just sucka ass now though. How are you going to make a racing game and make it where h pattern shifters don't work on it?

AC Evo is going to have a free range area the size of Germany so I'm not sure how these shit tier racing games are even holding on anymore.

Its sad too, forza brought some cool features to the genre then just ended up shitting the bed.

Feels like the golden age in sim racing right now though. Hope it lasts awhile before it's Inevitable greed phase.

What are the good racing games? I had some nostalgia for Gran Turismo 3 and got the itch to play one last year, but none of them looked like a Gran Turismo experience similar to what I remembered.

BeamNG looked to get a lot of positive reviews at the time, but I'm not going to buy a steering wheel controller to play a single game. Farthest away I will get from a mouse/keyboard is the Steam controller that I have never used.

Automobilista 2 is the best all rounder with a GT experience. Amazing AI and shines at retro cars and tracks. My personal favorite.

Assetto Corsa is the gold standard but requires mods. AI is ass, so bring friends or find a server. Best sound engine.

Assetto Corsa Competizione is a multi-player only Hyper competitive shitfest.

LMU is a better ACC with amazing physics. AI is apparently very good, haven't tried them yet.

BeamNG has the best crash physics but is more if a sandbox and requires tons of mods. I returned it due to how sandbox it was.

Wreckfest 2 is coming into its own.

Assetto Corsa: Evo is the new hotness but still very early access. Had tons of features like a massive free roam mode that is supposed to be most of Germany from lidar scans. Still no multi-player and AI is ass.

Those are the major ones.

Great, thanks. Ill look into them and hopefully add one to the queue. Automobilista and Wreakfest (maybe) sound promising, both of which I've never seen before.
