Games look so awful on consoles. I want to play a game, not a slideshow. I think FF8 was the last game I played on a console.
The last console I played more than a handful of times was the PS3. I own a PS4, but my total hours on it are less than 50 and I haven't bothered with a PS5. I doubt I'll ever buy another console unless they develop some must-have feature.

Unless your friends are sitting in your living room, I just don't understand the appeal of a console if you have PC as an option. The handful of games that have a delayed PC release aren't enough to move the needle when I have a backlog of literally 100+ great games.

I can't find the Desktop PC Gaming thread.

I'm considering getting this chassis + psu combo on ebay. I wanted to run it by yall to see what you think before I pull the trigger.

I'm building a new pc tower, going to sell my Legion Go + EGPU.

My kid bought a PS5 pro like 2 weeks ago and he turned it on once since. Hes been PC gaming like he usually does. So I asked him.."Wtf did you spend $600 on that thing if you dont even play it??!?" He said hes waiting for GTA6, loool.
I learned my lesson with the PS3. I bought it for Guitar Hero, played the fuck out of it for a couple months, then it gathered dust til I sold it to my friend.

Last time I got excited for a game of any kind is when my mom was able to find a copy of SuperEmpireStrikesBack for the SNES and surprised the hell out of my brother and me at Xmas. *note it's entirely possible the game was called something else , but it was about ESB and was for the SNES.

Buying a console now in advance of a release I would be concerned a new console would be released before the game considering how some games get tied up for years now.

It’s $700 now. I just got mine yesterday so I’m going to try to get the $ difference. It’s absolutely gorgeous too, highly recommend. The refresh rate, visuals, low latency was a major upgrade over my previous tv. Biggest visual leap I’ve ever seen for my pc.
I received mine on Monday so I may see if I can get a price adjust as well. That's a fair amount of money when I can just buy another one and return this one for another month.

They used to just immediately refund the difference. This time they had an automated message that told me they have a policy to not do that now, but I kept saying “I had more questions” about it until it got me to a human. I told him I’d rather just refund than waste their time and money buying the cheaper one then returning it under the more expensive purchase. The first guy couldn’t do it but he transferred me to the “bulky items team” and they did the refund immediately.

The bar was so low when it came out it actually ended up doing better than some expected I think, it even stayed at mixed for a bit after release before finally tipping into mostly negative.

Funny thing is, its the same "world dev" they had for GTAIII(and I believe Vice City also), that is were the hype came from. But you can't build the worlds that Rockstar builds with off the shelf engines.

Hence why GTA6 is taking so long, I bet the story has been finished/re-edited multiple times by now, they are just building the world.

Anyone played Foundation? Looks like a chill village building game. Saw it pop up on the Youtubes.

It's one I've always liked the look of but it's always been at a price that prevented me from impulse buying it.

This game is in that category for me too.

Yeah I recently got a PS5 Pro just to enjoy what I already got and the best of what's to come this generation. Probably the last home console I will own looking at the way things have been going. I'm tired of needing subscriptions for online features, Xbox is apparently going full retard, and Playstation just doesn't seem like it's going to be worthwhile next gen. Planning on just building a new gaming PC whenever my PS5 Pro starts to feel dated and using that for home gaming needs after. I'll probably just hook it up to my main gaming TV and just use it like a console, the keyboard and mouse desk gaming just isn't my thing anymore, when I am in the mood for playing games I usually just want to sit back somewhere comfy and game with a controller.

Anyone got recommendations for my 8yr old daughter? She's mostly done switch games (beat Mario Wonder, does Mario Kart, and a bunch of dance games that aren't relevant) and Tycoon games on Roblox. I was unironically looking at Hello Kitty Island Adventure for her, but it seems to turn into a daily quest grinder pretty quickly.

My daughter is 10 and loves Stardew Valley.
