with any luck it's just an IP harvest.fire all the califonized developers. make a new CNC with asians that love the genre, generous use of AI voices, taking lessons from various RTS. we've seen chineese devs making bangers. they could go ham with EA IP's
If I took over any big AAA publisher today I would simply clean house with it. Firing everybody shutting down all the studios, keeping all the intellectual property, and opening up new studios to develop new games for those IP's.

Today's AAA devs have been so ruined by over a decade of DEI and leftist HR hiring the only way to fix them is to basically burn them down and start anew.

Since people are mentioning Road Rash and Mutant League Football, I'll mention that they've both had conceptual remakes in the last decade. Road Redemption and Mutant Football League both have Very Positive reviews on Steam.

The original Bad Company 2 devs are the ones who made The Finals and the soon to be released Arc Raiders
Really? Arc Raiders looks bad. It looks like Concord and that other Sony Studios FPS shooter (that was basically like Concord) that also got canned. I can't even remember the name or can find it. But it was from 2024, I think.

Are you sure it's not "from the studio who made Bad Company 2" etc. As in, the studio owns the IP but has none of the original developers.

"The fallout would be bad."

The fallout = actually making good games and selling.

If you're going to do that though (and I don't disagree with you) why bother buying it? Start over with new IP. These IP's have been run into the ground anyway.

Are you sure you are not confusing Arc Raiders with Marathon and Fairgame$? Arc Raiders is a highly anticipated 3rd person extraction shooter more in common with The Divisions Dark Zones than Concord. The only negative thing I've seen from them is one bad trailer to announce the release date.

The tech test was amazing - the style is basically a retro future 70s aesthetic and your character is basically a hobo that gets sent out on resource runs in post apocalyptic ruins filled with other players and robots that want to kill you. Most of the “arc raiders bad” is due to the “dei” trailer during summer game show and dumb fucks basing their opinions on that alone for rage points. Game runs great, has amazing sound and level design, and responsive gameplay

Go watch some VODs of Shroud playing it - I haven’t seen him get that into a game since early PUBG. There is an open stress test beta weekend in 2 weeks where you can try it yourself

I think I've just learned through pattern recognition that the style of Arc Raiders is the same style as Marathon and Concord and just to avoid.

Kind of like if you get food sick 3x from three different thai restaurants, you start to avoid thai food. I haven't watched gameplay footage, but it just looks from the trailer and from Google Images screenshots to be very dei/woke slop.

lol it's absolutely not. Marathon in part indefinitely pushed back their game after the Arc Raiders tech test because it exposed how shitty Marathon was

Arc Raiders looked good, mostly because Tarkov was in a shit state and mostly still is, but Tarkov 1.0 comes out 2 weeks after Arc Raiders so we'll see how it does.

It did look good, but honestly I think 75% of the hype for it was just the thirst for a new/okay extractor that looked like it had legs. TPP games suck generally, but draw a huge Asian audience and the gear/items looked largely uninspired. It was a lot more like The Cycle than people will ever say, but the PVE was much less pervasive unlike The Cycle where your game was 90% fighting mobs and 10% dying to people, usually cheaters.

Arc Raiders/Tarkov/Battlefield6 BR all launching (allegedly) in the same 2 week span is going to be ridiculous. These fucking companies cut their own throats doing this stuff. As soon as some one smart enough goes "Hey, launch a game in January or February" they'll just doom their launches trying to compete against everyone else.

Also Call of Duty is sometime around there, but let's be serious. I can't even name that game.

Tarkov has a barrier of entry issue and the game is very "sim" heavy in the vein of DayZ/Arma. Arc Raiders is much easier for a casual player to get into - you have multiple safe inventory slots where you can keep the content of it if you die, your base has a NPC which will automatically generate basic stuff that can be used to make basic gear, and the gameplay is much faster than Tarkov in general. Plus in terms of interactions with players, unlike Tarkov there isn't always a big incentive to always KOS everyone. I mean you can, but when a player gets downed a flare shoots up in the air that is visible from miles away. During the tech test I would negotiate with some players because everyone was trying to bang out quests, so there wasn't incentive to ALWAYS get into a fight. The game is pretty much prisoner's dilemma: if you work together you all benefit, but there is also the chance the other guy has really good shit and you might feel inclined to take it lol. I'm sure that will change once people get fully upgraded bases and the progress carrot is lessened, but it was still fun.

Battlefield is Battlefield - while there may be some cross over in audience, you're not going to have a major cannibalization issue in terms of audience.

I heard nothing but good things about Arc Raiders. That said I also never heard anything but good things about The Finals but don't think it draws many players either.

The BF6 Battle Royale will absolutely take some of the same players as the extractors. Most extractors are glorified BR's with permanent loot anyways.
