I doubt the yacht cost that much to make. He owns the yacht production company, so he's getting it at production cost.

Still, he's one of the few billionaires I'm like... you earned it, bb. Treat yo self.

Dude you would be surprised about how much big luxury yachts actually cost to make. We did some work for the owner of Black Baud on his custom yacht he was getting made somewhere at a shipyard in Florida. He spent a disgusting amount of money on it. Everything has to be ocean proof as well as you can make it, and the materials for that type of stuff cost a hell of a lot of money, plus you're not hiring out a bunch of Mexicans, I guess unless you're making a drug running boat.

We contracted out all of the flooring and interior trim and cabinets and whatnot. I was working on a guest house for his thousand acre plantation down by Green Pond in South Carolina and we were doing a renovation on this plantation style main home, he had like a 20 plus foot boat that was going to be their dingy stole wrapped in plastic parked on the property. Guarantee you that but alone was well over a hundred grand.

Super nice guy though, and we did three restaurant projects with him for his restaurant group that apparently he owned apart from his IT company. He was a big collector of pirate antiques and treasure, and had all kinds of old black powder pistols and pirate antiquities, and a ton of gold doubloons that he kept on display it some of the restaurants. Stuff was probably worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. It was crazy.

Point being is I wouldn't doubt somebody would spend a half a billion dollars on building a super yacht and had the cash, especially if they saw the writing on the wall that the world is crashing. Makes you wonder what some of that budget went to like defensive measures and such. The man's a gamer, he probably has auto turrets or something crazy.

We recently recaulked our production rooms and used 3m 5200 marine grade caulk since we use pressure washers and caustic to clean after production. Was 40 dollars a tube through McMaster and we probably went through 500 tubes. The mechanics were happy when we bought them battery powered caulk guns. Our forearms weren't that sore since we first found our dads porn stash.

I helped build a marina once, and apart from having to blast polyurethane spray foam on the entire bottom of the building that was built up on piles over the water, we then had to sheath all with my marine grade plywood that you typically used to build boats. Those God damn 4x8s were maybe 70 or $100 a piece, and this was back right before Obama got elected. I couldn't tell you how much they cost now, but we had to use the special caulking on all the seams too, and none of that stuff is cheap. All the boat slips and decks were Ipe, and our framer bought some fancy ass tool that would pre-drill holes for the stainless screws and feed them like a gun to screw it all down. Would take four or five guys to carry one 10x10x10 of that particular wood because it's just so goddamn dense.

There was a ton of it that had to be fire rated because it had a gas pump out there for boats to pull up and tank off, not as if there's not fire suppression for any commercial building in Charleston, but there were a lot more hoops we had to jump through because of the gas lines running underneath the building. Even the damn gas tank install was a nightmare, and I crawled down into those two power wash them prior to the final inspection. Doesn't matter that I was a superintendent / project manager on the job, you did what you had to do.

To try to stay on topic needless to say I didn't get a chance to play a lot of video games during that particular project.

I don't think they'll let us load SteamOS to devices anytime soon as that would hurt their potential market here.
You could download their recovery image and install that. However driver support is probably meh, as all devices until now have been 100% AMD:
If you don't know your way around Arch Linux you're probably going to have a bad time.

What everybody seems to have missed in all that Valve Hardware Hype: The VR Headset has SteamOS support for native games ... and runs on an ARM chip. So there is an emulation/translation layer for x86 games, and now it's possible that future SteamOS hardware is going to have ARM processors.

I wouldn't be shocked if it did. Boats get stupid expensive fast, especially when you are doing a luxury finish. The cost of the teak and bronze that goes into a boat like that is probably mind numbing on its own.

Terminator 2D: No Fate got delayed from Oct 31 to Nov 26. Bummer for us Terminator fans that were eagerly awaiting it. I think this is the third time it's gotten delayed. What is it with Terminator games and constant delays? Usually leading to a rough finished product, too.

This one should be pretty damn good though, like the Terminator Resistance game we got in 2019.

Got delayed again to Dec 12th, now in "I'll believe it when I see it" status

Just saw a video on YT where someone did this on to their own SFF build. It was easy as pie for them.

Yeah, it's the shit. After milling, I don't think I've ever seen a piece cup or twist ever. Naturally weather resistant and will last forever, even in a salt environment, just a bitch to install and of course the price. No clue what it costs per board foot nowadays, but I can't imagine what it hasn't gone up significantly since the last time I ever had it on a job.

As someone who works with Linux daily. Linux is easy as pie until something goes catastrophically wrong and you're down a rabbit hole of page 6 of Google results and stack overflow questions trying to find the one dude in the world that fixed it.

I noticed it! I use dxvk-native alot, and had started on an arm port myself since the project hasn't moved in a few years (other than my own fork).

The announcement got me thinking valve probably has an arm fork of regular dxvk and I can just wait for that.
