Damn it now I want to replay ER again. I have a giant backlog and not much time but dammit now I want to play ER. Didn't really care for the DLC though, felt like a rehash with the difficulty turned to 11. I mean the ER one , not night reign or whatever that is called.

FYI I never could really get into the Dark Souls games. I didn't really give them anything resembling a fair shot and I have them all on Steam. Did like Sekiro though.
I suggest if you play the souls games start with ds1 because ds3 is so much better than 1 it's almost laughable. They are very easy after elden ring though. I replayed all 7 games last year and dark souls games were by far the easiest. Demons souls has kind of a strange difficulty where all of it is in the levels and the bosses are jokes.

ER DLC was good but it was a 1 and done for me.

Tbh, Idk what EQ means in this context or what the MnM thread even means. I'm just happy to be here.

That being said, I am good at souls games. That doesn't mean you can't provide constructive feedback to make the games better. They're very good games, they're just an 8/10 rather than a 10/10 due to a few quality of life issues. Issue they themselves recognize. It's why DS3 and BB have such quality of life improvements over DS1. And ER has such quality of life improvements over DS3.
EQ = Everquest an (at the time) amazing MMORPG we played via dialup/DSL/ISDN/Cable modems , came out in 99 or so. It's the game that founded the guild Fires of Heaven and this website/forum. I believe it's still a thing that you can play. Not sure if you have to pay for it anymore or not. Back in the day, it was a subscription cost. A LOT of the people here , myself included, spent way too many hours playing it and killing our social live. When I finally made myself quit, I never went back. It's the one thing I can point to that I had addiction issues with.

I DNF'd Sekiro, tbh, because I could never get the Burning Bull miniboss about 1/2 through the game despite trying multiple times over the course of a few years. DS3 and BB are my favorite Fs games. But I've learned that their DLCs are just a little too hard for me. Only From Software DLC I played was DS3's. I didn't even both with the ER DLC bc I knew Malenia was so gosh darn hard, that playing bosses harder than her were a hard pass.

When I did the melee strength only build this summer, it took me forever to beat Elden Beast w/ only a Greatsword. I didnt even bother fighting Malenia with the melee only build. But fighting Malenia w/ Tear Drop Mimic + Blasphemous Blade is a lot easier. But Blasphemous Blade is so overpowered it makes the game less fun, so I try not to use it unless I'm really stuck.

Oh my god. I just had a core memory unlocked of playing Everquest on my middle school computers back in like 1999.

Respawns are respawns. Didn't you need to rest at a campfire to save the game? So hopping from one campfire to another to save progress and heal, then doubling back to see what you missed would get you respawns. It was a long time ago and it wasn't an experience I burned into memory (outside of emulators suck). It was more of a foreshadowing of not liking Elden Ring.
Easy solution, don't save.

Burning bull is like 10% into the game.

Id say sekiro has the most satisfying combat of any game I've ever played,.fromsoft or otherwise.

DLC was meh. I didn't use a single item of gear from that xpac. It wasn't hard but colossally annoying to explore. They got of on their verticality which simply meant zone design in some areas was complete ass. Meanshile the exploring in the base game is what kept me playing it.

I don't know if there was anything to ruin, it was a still birth. I remember renting the old NES game as a kid, and what a punch in the dick it was.

It was a good game and some of the early levels are incredible, but it was definitely a ball-breaker. The later levels can get really unfair and are just pure challenge without the fun. I think I've only beaten it like...twice...in my whole life, and I played it a lot.
