I’m not a dev other than gathering data and developing metrics with SQL. I just don’t like what AI is doing to people.

Girl at work does not have a coding background but we brought her in due to being trainable and wanting to learn. She’s been learning SQL and continuing to learn and understand it better over the years. Once our workplace implemented an AI tool she started using that to do her SQL work. She has completely stopped trying to learn anything and just has the AI do it and she’ll send you the results with “not sure if this is right I used the AI to do it”.

It’s sad that we’re just enabling laziness and discouraging learning something useful. I guess once the AI is good enough it won’t be considered useful to learn anymore but from my perspective it just seems lazy and sad. We’re purposely making ourselves dumber.
This is generally fine at the junior analyst level too. However this is also how you learn higher level database concepts like indexing or clustering, intelligent design patterns to ensure good performance, proper deduplication strategies. You wont be getting the AI to do any of that if you don't even know what it is or how to ask about it. Let alone how to analyze stuff to understand where and why to put it there.

It objectively ruins the pipeline of junior to senior in that way. This will be for the worse in the long term.

Yeah, exactly the point I’m trying to make. The person who was actively putting effort into learning more stuff has now thrown her hands up and said cool I don’t have to learn shit now.

Then retards will just say hurr durr AI will replace all that too!

Odds of AI replacing the upper tiers are pretty much zero. Just within the context of this discussion Principal SQL Server DBAs and shit still earn north of 200k a year, you wont be firing them to have AI do that job.

The near term risk is AI replacing lower tiers that could have eventually become upper tiers. To use a baseball analogy, it’s like replacing prospects with robots that (at least currently) can’t match the ability of your starters. They’ll do fine down in the minor leagues, but if one of your big league starters retires or gets injured, you lost that pipeline that could have given you your next major league player

Getting good reviews. Never played their other games but might get this one as I don't have anything going on right now.

In a way, it confirms she's not the good kind of employee if she so easily drops learning.

Yes and no. She gave up like instantly so it showed some laziness…but also our company is demanding we use AI for everything we can, so she’s a better employee than me in that regard I guess. And she does get to the end result faster so it’s more efficient for the company in the short term. It’s just, she’ll never grow herself anymore.

Eh, I consider people who do stupid shit just because the boss says so to be... well, stupid.

I own a dev company. There are definitely developers that will use it to be more lazy and they'll never learn more than they know today.

But the opposite is also true, some of my devs are accomplishing 5x more by using AI to plan and write the code than they were two months ago. It's a huge boon to people who are smart at using the tool.

The girl you're referring to doesn't have to stop learning and AI doesn't have to be the reason she stops. She's just content with it doing all the work for her and not knowing how or why.

Current steam charts - pretty rough. A lot of times these games really only have 1 chance to make an impression.

That game looked like faggoty ass at best. It needed to knock gameplay out of the park and failed.

I am fucking over this Disney adult-esque art that has gripped everything lately.

This, please let the art style die a horrible death.
