I wonder why nobody has taken the Arkham City/Insomniac Spider-man/GTA approach to the Punisher. Probably too white and fascist for marvel to license. Given who runs that business now.

That’s interesting because Motion Twin is releasing Windblown which is in EA now. I’ve been playing it a bit here and there. Very different than Dead Cells with the 3rd person 3D perspective, gameplay has some overlap but not a huge amount. Still Roguelite. The biggest turn off is the characters and dialogue. Script is terrible. It looks like a more graphically polished Dead Cells which makes sense as its the same developer. I really enjoyed Dead Cells.
Glad I’m not the only one with the opinion on Windblown’s artistic choices. It is really abysmal on top of very spammy but fun gameplay.Yea dead cells is my most played roguelite. Did 5bc, got some hitless run costumes etc. Windblown is an amazing design with horrible characters and story. The animal thing really needs to die out. Furrys truly ruin everything. Windblown is a great coop experience though (up to 3p).
How involved is motion twin involved in this? On the trailer it made it seem like they were there only as an advisory role.
Either way the animations and gameplay look super smooth. Could end up great or just meh.

Everyone under 30 is retarded and dumb, about everything.See I don’t even know who made dead cells - so they are making the new CV… yeah I also don’t even get what a rouge like is- I am an old man.
So my general observations from the trailer were correct heh.
So many people on the YouTube comments were like “that soundtrack smacks!” - I am like…what? Fool go play 5min of NES CV2 and truely jam out

Rogue-like is a game where you play for a bit and unlock abilities, stats, power ups etc…then once you die and try again, those things you unlocked are permanent so your next try it’s a little easier. It’s a very common mechanic now, and basically extends games that would otherwise be very short if you just beat it on your first try.See I don’t even know who made dead cells - so they are making the new CV… yeah I also don’t even get what a rouge like is- I am an old man.

I agree with asmon's take on this. Toxic positivity prevented productive feedback during development. They produced an uninspired game that people don't want to play.

Some people hate it, because sometimes it’s overdone and you basically can’t beat the game without all the boosts. Others love it.
Fuck you faggotThat’s actually rogue-lite. They’re the genre branch that added the persistent upgrades to the formula
Rogue-like is something like the original Rogue, which had random aspects like dungeon layout and items you’d find, and if you die you lose everything and restart from scratch. Very much like most early games honestly.
Honestly though true rogue-likes are rare enough that the term has engulfed “lites” and it’s all considered the same at this point.

I made the same point comparing D4 art direction vs recent WoW art direction and highlighting the gender differences of who is in charge of each game within the same company. It’s even striking there.Honestly, and not to be “that guy” but I believe its almost 100% the introduction of women into the dev teams. Looking back at the early to mid 2000’s - you can see the initiative to push ~millennial aged women into STEM fields really ramp up.
Games started to seem stagnant in the early 2010’s. First with HR like always, then they control hiring and spear heading DEI or adjacent type programs. Then by the late 2010’s, you really got to see how much of the teams had switched to mostly women. Rockstar used to be all men, or at least 90%+. Now its the exact opposite. Blizzard, obviously. Etc.
People that noticed it earlier were considered basement dwellers, misogynists, etc. But now that some major AAA titles have outright flopped, the lack of merit based hiring has really put a spotlight on the issue. Vindicating the people that noticed early - but it still has that stigmatism tied to it. I just cant tell if the pendulum is swinging back the other direction yet, or not.

thats Rogue-lite.
Rogue-like is a game, that is like Rogue. everything is RNG, no progression. unlocks might be new classes, etc. but if anything just makes it harder with a larger rng pool. not easier.
