I thought he retired and would only come back to do Pillars 3, if it got the same budget BG3 got?
Never heard anything like that. I don't know what he was working on before MS came in and took out the trash (like Avowed 2, which pretty much ensures that PoE3 is never happening) but the report about Obsidian doing another Fallout said that Sawyer was in charge. He's just as much of a degenerate now as the art guy from Avowed who got shitcanned though so it's still not anything to be optimistic about.

Even if we are being charitable and work with the assumption that preliminary work on the game started a couple years ago, I'd be shocked if we see anything substantial in the next couple years
The impression I got was that MS just stepped in and told them to stop working on Avowed 2 (and a couple other projects that just got cancelled) and start doing a Fallout game, meaning that they don't even have the team in place yet, let alone any actual work done on the project.

They’re probably not all going to Xbox but LOL. She’s exactly doing what everyone said she was there to do - quietly sunset the brand into gamepass only hell and replace white nerds with half price street shitters.

They're not giving up on gay Oblivion that easily.

Yeah, but odds are it will still never see the light of day. It's just busy work for people they didn't want to lay off who have nothing else to do until Fallout actually starts production. From what I understand they cancelled multiple projects at Obsidian, so basically the only people with anything to do right now are the ones gearing up for Fallout and the live crew still working on Grounded 2 (which is pretty much Obsidian's only successful game/series in ages).

The companies making the consoles overpaid for the studios that crashed out instead of buying them on the cheap after they crashed out.

Because the studios also overpaid for undesirable games that took far long to make.

Without purging those studios of the political activist dykes and faeries, they will continue to fail. How many more $250 million failures can these giants take before they wake the fuck up to the real problem? How many of these people making these games actually play games anymore?

Probably also had to do with investment firms like Blackrock nudging them for DEI and ESG policies. The basic idea in their heads was either that gamers will buy anything AAA, or that they will warm up to it eventually--because there is nothing else coming out.

Which shows that they underestimated the actual consumers ... and the depth of their Steam backlogs.

So I picked up the Mass Effect legendary edition for peanuts. Worth playing? I was shoulders deep in MMOs when it came out originally…

One and Two are good. The third is the worst but the series is overall pretty great.

The third is the worst but it’s still surprisingly playable. And it was enjoyable to play through a 3 game series that built on the predecessors.

All 3 were worth my time and money, no regerts

A lot of me 3 salt involves launch which lacked a lot of....I guess fan service in its ending sequence. But some of salt is well earned with stupid npcs, plot points, and deviation from the origional concept. I personally find the goofyness begins at the me 2 final boss heh

Final boss in 2 made me quit playing the series. The end of the first was so fucking epic and I felt like 2 overall was a let down with the ending and how different it was from the first in gameplay. Never played any after that but I’d say yeah the games are worth playing.

It's a throw yourself into the world, lore and story. The controls and gameplay were clunky and forgettable. Me2 is where they really found their footing.

Mass effect 1 was one of those games I thought was terrible but everyone else loved. Like I was completely missing something.
Did you feel that way at launch or did you try to play it years after it and the sequels had come out? I feel like the exploration of the world/story, side quests, and RPG mechanics of ME1 were pretty great.

I thought ME1 was pretty amazing for the times in which it came out, but the gameplay evolutions in ME2, and some of the refinement in ME3 definitely felt better.

I feel like ME3 is the one I differed from crowd-consensus the most. I felt it was amazing. Sure, some corners were cut, but I enjoyed the game immensely.
