So there’s a decently good chance that the “consensus” game of the year (for whatever that means) could legitimately be a remake. Though I imagine GTAVI will get it even if it’s Grand Cuck Auto. Beyond that the big games were the 007 game (some mild wokeness depending on who you ask), Mina, and anything Capcom released.

I can't even think of a single game so far this year that I'd bother nominating for GOTY.

GTA is going to win them all anyway, their marketing budget will see to that easily.

Yeah pretty shit year in gaming. Nothing really stands out. I think the best fun I had was with POE2 with their new end game redesign.

Best games of the year were released a decade or more ago and I’m revisiting or catching up. Everything new is garbage.

Have you played The Orange Box or Portal 2 yet? They're noticeably older than 10-years, though. Orange Box came out on PS3 in 2007. Portal 2 was also PS3, but in 2011.

I liked Palworld this year, but it's also the only game released this year I played.

There's a few more I put on my wishlist to buy in 1-2 years when they're on sale/finished (Crimson Desert, Monster Hunter Stories 3). Bunch of games releasing soon I'm also interested in, the Castlevania by the Dead Cells guys, Valheim(technically already released but waiting for inevitable patches+mods before I dig in), Enshrouded, Final Fantasy Resonance(will wait for sale though).

Been mostly playing stuff in my backlog.

Nice set. But I also think people have also gotten pissier about games. Outrage sells.

I’d say it’s 80% games worse. 20% people just like to rage.

I have seen people beat up on Skyrim, both recent Zeldas, expedition 33, etc. as if they were among the worst games ever made.

about the only two games immune to criticism are Elden Ring and BG3. Maybe cyberpunk - now. Not launch.

The Washington Post interviewed the lead narrative director of Wolverine and this is what he said about the relationship between Logan and Sabretooth. "Sabretooth grabs Logan by the nape of the neck in a brief moment of longing. Logan feels that longing, gets scared, and pulls away." Sabretooth feels that longing and it hurts him, and he wants to vent that pain outward. Hate and love go hand in hand... "You hurt me, so I'll hurt you, and we'll stay bound together because now we share that pain."
