Regarding Starcraft, the dude on stage said "open-world shooter" but that's about it. Blizzard isn't known for being super original, so I'd expect some Helldivers-type thing. 15 years after Helldivers happened.

Not going to pretend I'm not a lot like this, but I don't buy everything from Blizz, and I don't stay subbed once the fun stops and the grind begins anymore. I don't hate on Blizz for sucking, because that hasn't been news since BoA. The slop usually has some fun elements to it. But that has been on diminishing returns since they are full to the brim with DEI hires still.

You aren't alone. I was a quest completionist, but couldn't tell you much about WoW lore.

Hah no that was needed. The Orange Box is one of the greatest PC game suites ever released, Playstation was lucky to huff its farts.

This comment made me curious about the achievement for completing so many quests. I went onto WoW armory, and my Szader is no more. Instead, there's a new Szader, that's a Pal on Illidan. Not my old mighty Orc Warrior self. But then again, I haven't logged him on since the day my daughter was born, 14-years ago. Christ, time flies.

But now I see they allow alliance and horde to join the same guild, same group, same raid... It's all so strange. I also remember when they dropped the level down from like 80 to 70, but that was after I quit the game. I quit during a pickup raid of Deathwing, because my wife's water had broken. So I quit the game mid-raid and drove her to the hospital. Never turned it on again.

Same - I pretty much devoured as much lore as I could about the game, would theorycraft. Then Battle for Azeroth came out, I got to max level, realized I was bored, and I quit the game and moved to FF14

Although even before that xpac, towards the very end of Legion in the post-patch era, I was sort of disengaging from the game already
