I mean Mass Effect “James Bond” as a concept could have had potential, but the trailer (if that is what they showed management) wasn’t the best. The music didn’t really fit the tone of the trailer, it really needed some tighter editing and more cinematic setup to better sell the “super agent” thing, and a better hint of the “hook” in the story to get people excited

I'm sure they'd say there was a 'Dark Ages after the reaper war'... that still had enough free resources to build intergalactic teleportation.
Whether this was someone dictating 'Andromeda is canon, they need to be represented in the sequel' or the dreaded 'We have to make all ME3 endings valid... by not having any of them matter' resulted in a half-millenium+ gap, it's hard to see how this world would stay nearly identical other than people have cyberdecks now.
