Since it's the continuation of a popular serie by an established author and, to my knowledge, they don't release these simultaneously in different languages, I would assume the final version of the text can be obtained very late in the publishing process. Once they have a narrow'ish window for the publication, there is a lot of stuff the publisher can do even without having the actual text, like working on the cover design and illustration, negotiating quantities and price with distributors or buying the paper they'll need to print the book when it's ready to be printed (that sounds silly, but that's important: a few years ago, a huge book that won the most prestigious book award in France was in constant shortage for weeks, because, as it became a unexpected best seller, there simply was not enough paper around to print it!).

yeah lets please discuss more important topics about how we need a new GoT thread because adding spoiler tags takes an extra second to click on/type in and thats way too labor intensive. cersei has options now that she is out of holy jail. especially with kevan out of the way. she can do whateverfuck she wants with the king's guard or robert strong or have qyburn do something. it doesnt have to be faceless man stuff, the high septon isnt a ninja, can get some joe schmoe archer take a few shots at him and this all can go away(or worsen her situation). i dont think cersei will go along with this trial without at least exhausting all these options first.

Eh, we'll see how much authority Cersei has to match Randyll Tarly in the books. I actually think it's possible that they'll leave Kevan alive in the show to fill the role of Randyll Tarly. If they don't the only check on her authority will be Tommen, and without Margaery free to support him, I doubt he'll really stand up to her.

I just don't see Cersei ever doing anything big again. She's been stripped of power, humiliated in front of the entire city, has zero capital and still has to undergo a trial. She has nothing to offer to anyone. Every single one of her plans has backfired.

Well in the show she still mostly controls the king and Qyburn is on the small council, so even after the walk of shame she isn't powerless. If Varys kills Kevan, she can pretty much run wild, if Kevan stays alive he has enough authority to stand up to her and try to counter her influence over Tommen.

varys killed kevan because he took cersei's position as regent and he had enough power to right her wrongs and help re-stabilize the realm. he was too dangerous for varys to allow to live. power goes back to cersei and now she can do whatever whacky thing she wants. first order will be getting her ass out of trouble and thats where i think the kingdom will really begin to collapse

I still think Varys teleports over and kills Kevan Lannister.

I also feel like the walk of shame was Cersei's swan song. I don't think she'll be found innocent in CLEGANEBOWL.

Unless they're going to delay the fuck out of the trial by combat, I don't think it's going to be Cleganebowl. I think she'll win the trial by combat (because if she lost that would out Tommen and Myrcella) and then she'll be depending on Robert Strong for something really important later and THAT'S when we get Cleganebowl.

Yeah you're right. If they stick with the prophecy (which who knows if they will, I wouldn't be surprised if GRMM doesn't) there's a lot that should happen to off Tommen and Myrcella.

Interview with a VFX guy says that season six might have a "mind-blowing" VFX scene that got cut from both seasons 4 and 5 but he says is in the script again for 6.

"Benioff and Weiss, when they write the outline each year, for last two years, we got to this one point and we read this one gag and thought 'Oh my God, how the hell are we going to do that? But this is going to be incredible!' And then it got pulled and we didn't do it in Season 4," says Gower. "And then, lo and behold, in Season 5 there it was again. And it's pulled again! But now, in Season 6, it looks like we're going to do it. Fingers crossed they won't chicken out."
