Not really at all comparable. People talked PLENTY of shit about Bethesda prior to Starfield. Fallout 4 was a hunk of shit, FO 76 was a big miss, etc.

Rockstars last game was RDR2 in 2018, well after/during the "woke" era and yet many people still consider it one of their best titles.

I have a feeling the only people who will hate GTA VI are those that already had their mind made up due to the Internet.

There was a little here and there, but it wasn't until 2020 that all the woke/dei shit started taking over.

I felt like prior to the summer of George a lot of this shit was used to flesh out a world (GTA, etc) that would clearly have some sexual deviance going on. Then after 2020, it became shoehorned into every fucking game, sometimes as a prominent character’s personality. I still don’t understand why so many fucking “nerds” are obsessed, even if they’re straight, with having gay shit in EVERY Game.

It’s not the nerds (customers) it’s the mentally ill developers and writers. They are the minority

yeah the actual coders didn't care, they just wanted to make things as realistic as possible. the writers all got replaced by trannies and failed movie/TV wannabes who saw a new place to "teach the world". it only happened in NA/Europe and the results took almost a decade for gamers to just walk away and play asian games, F2P shooters, etc. they tried to infect those too but failed miserably between Forspoken, Concord, etc. Forspoken was developed by an asian team who thought the stupid black girl power shit was popular in the west and were shut down by square enix when the game flopped.

now in 2026 coders are dying as they are just prompt writers for AI, artists are still 1/2 woke slop artists but AI is replacing them too, and western studios are still full of woke producers and writers and directors but all their games keep flopping so the studios are circling the drains.

its still gonna take a few years since we have God of War Laundry, Intergalactic (both Sony), Fable, whatever slop Ubisoft is gonna put out next. It'll be interesting to see what Respawn does with the next Jedi game, did the retards flee and take over that company? Same with CDPR and Witcher 4.

it doesn't matter to most of us, i have enough great games for the rest of my life and it looks like China has mastered making games in one specific genre (SekiroSlop), hopefully they branch out to RPGs and FPS soon.

As for GTA6, the idea that there's no reason for a heavy dose of skepticism is just fucking retarded. As if Rockstar is just magically immune to the woke infestation that is plaguing the industry? Like they've been locked inside some kind of alternate dimension with no new hires in their HR department? Oh they made a great game EIGHT fucking years ago so GTA6 is definitely gonna be amazing too, nevermind the fact that RDR2 had already been in development since 2010 and would have been even more likely to dodge most of the DEI infestation.

The word officially entered the zeitgeist in 2014, but I don't see it as being wrong to say it wasn't full swing until 2020.

2015-2016 was when the word was morphed rather quickly from a black culture thing "Stay woke" (4chan used to use it in this fashion as well in memes) After 2016 it officially became synonymous with DEI and the "Woke agenda" and you couldn't use the term the same way as it was used in 2014-2016 any longer because people would misunderstand what "Stay woke" was referring to, so it's usage as a "positive" tongue-in-cheek thing about being aware of government corruption et al was completely dropped from vocabulary years before 2020.

Many people that study the history of memes believe some type of psyop was involved to take the grass roots meaning of 2014-2015 "stay woke" and subvert it.
