i think you could try curry packets and be very happy

i found a good packet sauce
Coco Ichibanya Curry Instant Japanese Curry Very Spicy Pork 6.34oz(180g) Pack Of 10 , just heat up in water for 6mins, then all you need to do is add some rice, make a chicken/pork katsu and microwave some carrots and potatoes. if you want to go the extra mile, you can slow cook the carrots and potatoes in curry broth, just a cup of water and add 2 tbls of curry powder
We do similar but for vege I generally rough dice an onion and a couple cups of frozen pea/carrot/green bean/carrot mix from Costco.

We don’t usually have cabbage around but I’ll sometimes throw in spinach or spinach/kale/chard touch chop.

Asian markets for days here in southern California.

Been looking up recipes. I have a cookbook that has nearly everything, had it from before the internet was popular. 1145 pages. It's nice to find details on how to make a certain sauce or such. Of course I get distracted easily.

75th anniversary of the Joy of Cooking, 4500 recipes. While flipping through the index to see cornish hens I noticed they had 3 pages of Christmas stuff in the index and most of it I had never heard of. Get to the page and apparently I cooked something off the list before, it was turned down.

My mom has 3 Joy of Cooking editions, one she has had forever as I remember and one that’s a breast cancer awareness edition and she got a new one a few years ago- she uses all 3.

I got The New Professinal Chef book that I picked up in the 90s for like $100. And its about that big, has tons of recipes and instructions. I pick shit out of there all the time to make when shit gets boring around the house.

What's on the Christmas menu for you guys?

I don't know what we're going to make. I just really didn't think about it this year. Thinking about just maybe doing something stupid easy like mussels and fries, nice side salad, some bread.

Maybe make a beef tartare.

Just been kind of a screwed up year and guess I haven't been looking forward to as much as I normally do.

Just get a pre cut honey baked ham or one of those big turkey breast things that are ready to go. Just put it in a crock pot with whatever veggies you want to have with it, cook until veggies are tender and serve.

Everyone in my family is sick so Christmas is next week. Got a honey baked ham from honey baked hams for 30$, so that’s gonna be the star. I’m not planning on boiling it with vegetables though…

I keep dreading the moment that a Omaha steaks package is going to show up at the house. My wife had made mention of this the other day and it reminded me of the incoming Doom.

Prime rib
fresh horseradish
Yorkshire puddings
ginger glazed carrots
a shrimp appetizer with Tabasco/Worcestershire/garlic sauce, served with wasabi deviled eggs (kids' favourite)
whipped garlic mashed potatoes
roasted broccoli
quince paste for whatever you want it on. Had a good quince harvest this year. Good on meat, cheese, or on its own.
cheese course
fresh baguette
Boston lettuce and endive salad
fennel and orange salad
rosemary creme brûlée (you should try this)
finishing with a variety of chocolates and coffee/esspresso
Wine for each course, dessert wine for final

At this point we have 18 coming for Christmas dinner. It will be a great time. Lots of hilarious white elephant gifts will be had. Lots of mulled wine and apple cider.

Doing fondue for New Years. Cheese, oil, and chocolate. And don't anyone tell me broth is better than oil. I'll punch you in the dick.

Your shrimps sounds like New Orleans BBQ style.

To be fair to honey baked ham, they actually put out a really good product. Normally I just grab the cheap ass Kroger ham and spice it up my way, but I wont hate on honey baked hams.

Everything I’ve heard about Omaha steaks sounds just awful. For some reason Ive never had a relative stupid enough to buy their products.
