I don’t think the MMO landscape really cares anymore with this kind of stuff but come on… how many MMO franchises are going to announce before EQ3?

There is also Archeage Chronicles, but they've revealed jackshit about how the final game is actually going to be: Will it be a MMO? Hybrid model?

The thing for GW3 talking about "next evolution in MMOs" makes me think GW3 will probably be a hybrid model of sorts

I played 2 for a while and had fun. Enough that this is on my radar to try. I had no clue they were even thinking of another. Will see if they can keep it going.

Eh, once you get there you're done though.
Which kind of goes back to my original complaint about the game. It just "feels" like its too casual for "me" when I want to deep dive into an MMO. I can no life shit NOW, not after I have taken .. god, how many days for the crafted Lumps and Spools? Or the provisioners themselves, or essences, or the relics, or the daily/weekly chests, or, or, or.. Look, just let me fucking grind it out as quick as I can. Yes - I know I can spend money to bypass some of that. But for fuck sake.

I get what you're saying. Guild Wars 2 progression is horizontal not vertical. I hated it at first, but once I became more casual I loved it. Once I got ascended gear I didn't care anymore. Just do whatever I want.

It really comes down to farming gold in one way or another, and it gets pretty boring once you've seen the different areas and tried the events a few times. I do like a lot of the game though, but it doesn't really have anything that makes me want to come back often. And the story competes with WoW for gayness at this point.

My first question is how fucking gay is this story and content going to be? Because it was veering toward a 10 dude orgy.

And will someone finally recognize that the 1990’s Nickelodeon classic David the Gnome had more mature sounding dialogue.

The final episode had the main characters die and tell the fox "It's okay, you'll find new friends."

Fucked me up as a kid!

Here's to hoping some of this returns in GW3, and they purge out the Woke/DEI elements before shipping.

I say this Constantly and everywhere: Launch GW2 is my favorite MMO of all time: The Graphics, the characters, the starting cities and backstories, the public quests, every tier of leveling, every area of the world, it was chefs kiss amazing and great. I had three played all the way through level 80's, a couple more level 60's, the only one I didn't have at least leveled into teens was a thief, who I had at 10. I collected almost all the dyes, worked on a couple of epic weapons or their equivalent and generally reveled and basked in the game and the world.

Then came Path of Fire and I didn't recognize the game any longer. It was like a wholly different team had taken over, and very little about the game that I had loved survived into the expansion era. It was still the same game but somehow different, with different approaches to everything. Obviously lots of people still enjoy it, the Living Story had lots of fans but something for me was lost that I couldn't recover. I keep coming back to it from time to time; I am pretty sure it is downloaded and patched on this PC now, for instance, but I can't find a way back in. I keep hoping someone will open a Classic server for it but that never seems to happen.

Based on an IGN interview, it will not be subscription based and have no battlepass and will be action combat.

New World reborn? lol

Launch GW2 had so many great systems.
Long chained branching public events, some that ended in large events.
-Narrative class stories that fit in with the over-arching world story,
-Multiple ongoing local and regional story threads that fed the public event cycles,
-Great class structure that didn't rely on the Holy Trinity,
Fantastic sense of place and locations, with history and distinct lore for each race/class/city/etc, with lots of room for different playstyles builds.
Puzzles and achievements.
I am sure there a tons of stuff I am leaving out.

If they can achieve this without the DEI Wokeslop of the last few years, it will be a miracle.
