Pretty sure I saw a tweet capture that showed JK Rowling talking about how she never described Hermione's skin color/ancestry to justify a race swap of one of the main three as well. Still, that series is popular enough with rabid fans that it will still be a success no matter how badly they contort it to be 'inclusive'.

Also, you can guarantee that there will be some gay Dumbledore shit because of her retroactively saying he was even though there is not a single scene in any of the movies or books where it could possibly matter.

So they made the black dude the most hated person next to Voldemort? So when James Potter picks on him that means he's a racist. It's like poetry...

John Lithgow piqued my interest but I'm not watching black Snape.

I won't watch on account of the showrunners having never read the books.

I don't know if D&D read GoT or not, but if they didn't they did a bang up job either way.

So sure, it's possible-- but along with the casting it's a giant why bother. No reason audiences should give these writers a chance.

In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Severus Snape is described as a thin man with a large hooked nose, greasy black hair, and cold eyes. He wears a long black cloak that makes him look like a bat.

book confirming GIF by South Park

when i asked deepai to generate black severus snape with the above description lol

Poor Neville. Now we will all know why they are called Longbottoms.

They just can't help themselves. They've got to say, "Fuck you" to normal society at every turn.

Good luck to the guy following in the footsteps of Alan Rickman as Snape who was one of the best casting ever, and gave an amazing performance with the benefit of people not knowing his back story so there was actual emotional impact when you looked back at his actions at the end, knowing the sacrifices he went through during the entire series.

Just that casting alone is enough to never remake Harrry Potter.

I just don't understand the need to do this, outside of money. There were a ton of movies and they ranged from great to ok. None of them were terrible and the whole story was told. Why do it again?

Yep 1 season per book at 10 episodes per season they could more or less get as close as they want, even if they make the last book 2 7 episode seasons.

Merchandise. The answer is always merchandise. All you need to do is look at Lilo and Stitch's toy numbers in 2024, a year before the remake hit theaters, and that's why they will pump existing franchises until the well is bone dry.
