Who gives a shit, anyway. I never read the books, but liked the movies because the adults were really well cast and performed well. Snape, the Weasleys, McGonagall, Mad Eye Moody, nearly all the seasonal Dark Arts teachers. Hagrid, Severus, Bellatrix. IMO, all these made the movies, and I didn't care for Harry or Hermione at all.
The only kids I liked were Ron and Luna. The guy who played Ron showed up to casting and was scolded because he didn't learn his lines beforehand. He simply shrugged, and said, "Ron wouldn't have, neither."
Hired on the spot.
I like Luna because the actress who played her only did school plays, and was her life's dream to play Luna. Casting and even JK said she was 100% Luna. She even designed her own outfits which were used in the movies.
The movies were pretty damned good, and still hold up pretty well even today. Hard to believe Emma Watson is 41 years old.
Why bother trying to do it all over again? It was perfect the first time around. Any type of retread is just going to be a shitty retread.
