Just because I don’t want anyone to lose sleep and to show my gratitude for the concern of my health, today a pair of (new) ZMF Suede perforated muffs came in for the HD600s.

The previous owner must not have used them much. I've got maybe a few mm of clearance on the top of my giant noggin due to how permanently squish those pads are. Please let me know those replacements go, the ear pads are equally squished on mine. Should probably replace both.

Oh, somewhat related question. I replaced the absolutely filthy pads my old DT 990 so my son could have his first pair of decent headphones. This was my first time ever doing this and the screwdriver slipped while get the ring off and I poked a hole in some sort of paper. I know larger speakers use paper drivers but headphones don't, I think? What did I puncture? I put it back together and seems fine, but hearing is subjective.

Will do. Unfortunately my amp came to town via USPS, bounced around a bit, then left heading west to Denver for some reason, and is now hopefully headed back.

They were very easy to replace though, no tool required. Feel nice on the head, and cost wise it wasn’t that much more than OEM replacements so figured why not. They have perforated versions of suede and calf skin, and s as non perf version as well. These are supposed to be closest to factory apparently.

Looking forward to having everything hooked back up to where it was a few years ago.

Yes, they have pretty much any set of headphones dialed in that you can think of.

You used to have to go to the website and hunt down your headphones and now it's all built in. Here's the website if interested. GitHub - jaakkopasanen/AutoEq: Automatic headphone equalization from frequency responses

I use EQAPO with the Peace plugin to make it look how it is shown in the screenshots below. Included are the quick links built into the app now.

EDIT: make sure you toggle the power button at the top to ensure it's working while playing music, if not you need to go through the configurator. If you need assistnace with that just ping me. Then load up a some badass songs. Such as Seal - Crazy (I'm not a Seal fan but that song sounds nuts with a good setup).

EDIT 2: Note that some headphones are better than others, I recommend getting some HD58X or PC38X (has a mic) to really dip your toes in. I put on my HD58X when wanting to listen to music and it's a good step up from the PC38X.

Think I've got everything set up now. Playing with a bunch of different HD 600 options. Thanks for the pictures, I completely looked past the "AutoEQ" button.

How are you digging it so far, did it make a big difference?

Yeah, I would say noticeable. I don't have a lot of experience without using it though, so my baseline is kind of what it sounds like with everything running. It is impactful turning it on and off. Listening to a lot of Dream Theater and Coheed to test it out though and picking up on a lot of subtleties in the mix that even after years of listening to some of it is new.

That's the Hallmark of a good setup.
