Had my eye exam with the dye today. First of all I know I'm a pussy but they didn't tell me before hand they were going to inject into my hand. They numbed it but it hurt like fuck still.

So basically my right eye has 3 areas (dunno the term) that aren't great. Left eye has the very beginnings of some damage. I'm getting 5 months of injections in the right eye and 3 laser treatments (one per spot).

I've heard the injections are actually relatively painless. Just uncomfortable.

Still... I feel like shit.

Same and for me it’s not the ride it’s all the ricketyness of it. Constant bumps and vibrations and sharp pulls sudden starts stop, the jerkiness of the ride? If that makes sense. Still love the adrenaline rush I do the giant swing or skydiving etc for the thrill. But my old body and bones just can't take all jerking around, confined in the seats with the bars or overhead harnesses or whatever. i fucking ended up with bruises and shit the last time I went on Rollercoasters and haven't been back since.
They give me headaches and I get nauseous, I feel the same as you but I can deal with the bruises and a bit of soreness but the nausea I can’t. Wonder if motion sickness pills will help because I like to do things my daughter but I’m an old father now at 45 and she’s 6.

...with all my labs showing good, last night got a massive leg cramp that woke me up around 2am. pretty sure it was the worse one i have gotten after my pcp put me on extra magnesium last oct.
On the topic of the leg cramps, how's your potassium level? I had that problem off and on and just started working in a banana every other day and it cleared my "wake up screaming with cramp/charlie horse" scenarios...

...The lady said everyone reacts differently when they come off anesthesia , and that was just a local. I used to ask if I was nice when I came out from then on and was told I did 'fine'. Then one time I asked if I wasn't 'fine' would they tell me and the lady said no. .
I had what I will call a "very Persian dr." who did my first cyst removal. There was an option for full sedation, or "twilight". I have issues with having blackouts and memory holes so I opted to try the "twilight". Turns out I still had the full memory hole. Afterwards I ask her how things went and she said "The surgery went great once you stopped kicking me", and promptly flagged me as "no more Twilight for Mr Haus" ;)

As for me now, I have now had a consult with the "specialist" since my regular urologist took a look at my follow up CT scan on my kidneys and said "You need to see the guy who does the complicated surgeries". He actually had a different opinion. Unlike my primary urologist, he thinks the cysts (one on each kidney, each around 1" diameter) are very possibly candidates for ablation rather than partial nephrectomy (which would be a MUCH better option). He's consulting with a radiologist about it and I'm supposed to hear back tomorrow. Either way he wants to biopsy one. Figures the game plan will be biopsy it, then ablate it. Then use the biopsy results to inform on what we suspect the other is (since the odds of having two DIFFERENT cyst causes is apparently astronomical. OTOH, he says with the amount they both soaked up contrast I should be ready to hear it's cancer, but he's optimistic on treatment options. So probably a big next couple weeks around Chez Haus.

started eating about 3-5 bananas a week last year. might be a bit too many. after that bad night cramp, only had 2 minor cramps in my feet. calves felt stiff for like 3 days.

heard from my endocrinologist, concerned about my calcium level going down, next 2 weeks have to take 600mg and get blood work again. she said still a possibility this could be source of my foot tingle.
asked about pth trending down, going to wait to see where it goes. apparently could take a while to get everything balanced out. really thought after the surgery it would be fixed.

might wanna make sure your blood counts are right with a CBC. I had severe charlie horse/leg cramps for a few years which evolved into pretty much any random muscle cramp if I moved it the wrong way and as I explained before it was because I was bleeding to death and ran out of red blood cells to carry oxygen and water to cells/muscles/organs/etc

Time to get a job that doesn't involve staring at computers all day. And go on disability to make your employer pay out.

I've seen some odd stuff at a doctors office, well it happened again. You would think once 10 years ago it wasn't such a big deal because it wasn't as known then.

When I get a copy of a MRI to take to another doctor/hospital they always give it on a CD and told "that's just the way it is". Okay.

Second time I saw a neurologist and he had no freaking clue how to operate a CD so he asked me to do it for him. The first time the doctor told me his password and walked off and came back a few minutes later.

Talk about a flash drive being stuck into the computer and making the news with ransomware and who knows what else records wise. Apparently they only have classes/meetings for nurses and not doctors.

Here is what really takes the cake. End of the appointment the doctor I was seeing said he is leaving. His replacement, the first doctor I saw that did the same thing 10 years at another hospital in town.

I'm not a computer guy but I can load a program off a CD. I do know our IT guy used to always harp on one of his biggest fears was someone sticking a usb drive into some of the shop equipment. Not much they could hold for ransom records wise but pretty sure someone bored could quickly make it suck getting it back like it was.

Weird getting it on a cd. But okay. Usually you get a link and user+pass to see or download the dicom images.

Doesn't matter. Did they provide you with an eye friendly monitor? Did they make sure you are given 15 min per hour away from the monitor?
I didn't ask. My eyes are fine visually, I have diabetic retinopathy.

If I got up and walked awY no one would care lol

I know the beetus, amigo. That is a disability. Your retinopathy means they have to provide a work environment that isn't going to aggravate it.

In the US it's completely normal that if you request a copy of your imaging they burn a CD. In my folder I have for my current kidney situation I have 3 CDs. Each time I am going to see a new Dr, I simply copy the contents of each into a subdirectory on a cheap thumb drive and give it to them. So far only one office had issues figuring out how to get the files.

Now, the Dr's are all kinda taken aback that I can run the imaging software good enough to verify and validate the radiologist report, measure the masses, do screen caps and build a better report. But after the number of medical issues I've had to be involved in navigating between my grandmother, my mother, Mrs. Haus Mrs. Haus , and myself I found it a good skill to teach one's self.

We're backwards as fuck here in America. I get them on CD a lot. I usually load them and when (inevitably) the doc says 'we don't have a disc drive' I ask for an email address to send them the images.

In this day and age almost every dr has a "patient portal" which almost always supports file uploads. And almost all devices still have a working USB port on them. heh

Today I pooped into a container and then shipped it via UPS. They said "two weeks"...
I've done this. Varied my dinner choice the night before, so they got a monumental morning poop.

So it only took like a month for the specialist urologist to see me, say he needed to talk to a radiologist, talk to them, and get a response.

Positive? They're both pretty sure they completely take care of the right side with an ablation (with biopsy) and it would be an outpatient procedure.
Downside? Left side is still probably going to require a partial nephrectomy.

So our goal is do the right side, let me heal up and plan the other side at this point. The original urologist was locked in on that it was going to be dual partial nephrectomies, this new plan means keeping considerably more kidney in tact and working it seems.

What made you go get the scans? Were you having pains or did they scan for something else and see the kidney cysts?
