Currently sitting in an urgent care, getting X-Rays and a splint on my elbow. Third time in my life I've broken this elbow. This time I have a chip that came off so will be seeing a specialist tomorrow.

You made my sympathy circuits melt. The only thing I can imagine being worse than a broken elbow is having a bone chip loose in there ripping more shit up.

I popped the chain on my bmx at 12 jumping off a 4 count flight of steps to a landing and went flying onto my elbow and just like beagle. There are tiny blood vessel type bones that fragment and shit. Really fun feeling

Never too late to start learning to do it with the left!

Obviously not as bad as bone-breaking, but ended up getting the IUD put in, and have to say that had to be one of the more miserable experiences in my life. Fuck. And apparently the pain just showing up over and over is normal for the next few months.

How often do those things get replaced? Or is it a one and done?

Every 5-8 years.
Current wife /then girlfriend said I wasn't committed to our relationship, I showed her. Vasectomy at 35. Doc asked me if I was sure. I said I was sure I didn't want to be anyone's daddy.
Sex that night too. Fuck all that noise about it hurting. Also fuck using condoms.

Wife’s on her third, says the female gynecologist was far more considerate when removing/putting that thing in than the first (male) doc.

I get to have an "emergency" procedure tomorrow. Been having some weird stuff with vision in my right eye, intermittent floaters, a sort of fog over periphery areas of vision, etc. Turns out I have a detached retina and its one of those things where the longer you wait the worse the odds are of it successfully being re-attached.

They are doing something called a Scleral Buckling. Surgery kinda sucks anywhere but eye surgery? Fuck me its like my worst nightmare even if its a pretty non-invasive procedure.

Good luck dude.

As someone who has been receiving eye injections, stuff in the eye sounds waaaaY worse than it feels.

My dad had a detached retina and they fixed it with a laser or something. He was fine for 20+ years after (died of something else).

I dunno if this soothes your fears or not, anything eye related is shitty. But if you did actually go get treatment early I don’t think detached retinas are supposed to be that bad.

one of my friend had a detached retina about 15 years or so ago. don't remember which surgery* he had, but said the recovery was the worse part. he had to stay in bed on his side for 20 hours per day for over a week.

*chatgpt thinks it would be "Pars plana vitrectomy with gas tamponade" also said can be up to 23 hours a day on side, back or face down for over a week.

Ya they didnt want to do a vitrectomy because it also induces cataracts. So different procedure. Im done and back and nice and groggy from the anesthesia. And have the biggest eye patch ever.

Also pars plana vitrectomy with gas tamponade sounds like some kinda fancy michelin star gastronomy dish.
