I don't get this game at all some times. Rank 7 game pal vs my mage, its late game, I'm at 20 life, 3 cards in hand, and have a minion who's at 1/3. He has 3 midrange minions out, 8 life... and he plays sylvanas and goes face for non lethal. What could I possible have been sitting on the entire game? Are you fucking serious? Rank 7? Do you not know.. math?
I've been thinking about this and I think this might have been the correct play for him. When you're that low against a mage and have no healing in hand, it's often better to just push for lethal and hope you're lucky enough that they didn't draw fireball. If he cleared your minion to play around fireball he would have been trading at least 3 damage to your face to buy one extra turn, and if that 3+ face damage he lost meant he didn't have lethal next turn, playing around fireball didn't actually help him any. You have to play to win, not play to not lose.

Now if he still had lethal damage the next turn even if he cleared your 1/3, then yes, he misplayed badly by not playing around fireball. Otherwise he made the right play, although he may not have understood the reasoning why it was the correct play.

Is al'akir even worth having in any shaman deck? I don't have many legendaries (rag, sneeds and deathwing) but i have about 3200 dust and I want to put together either a mage or priest deck or both and start really trying to climb the latter instead of just getting to 19 every month. Should i use that 3200 on sylvanis and antonidas or are there other legendaries i should consider crafting? I have most of the other cards i've seen listed for those types of decks.
The problem with Sylvanas is that the decks that run her typically run a couple others as well. If you really want to try climbing the ladder next season, I would honestly recommend playing mech mage or hunter, both of which function fine without legendaries. Get a feel for other decks and then decide what you want to spend your dust on.

If you just want to craft a generic legendary that fits in many decks, craft Dr Boom.

Back to the point about Arena. I just gave up. It wasn't fun, the RNG really hurts there. I was up to averaging about 4.2 but it was a chore and with how slow people play generally in Arena I eventually realised that I was spending an hour or two a week just simmering at my opponent rather than having fun. Stopped doing that and now I just burn my gold on Classic Packs. I have a deck for every daily and am just slowly grinding to the legendaries I want. 30 minutes a day playing with fun decks >>>> hours simmering in Arena.

You just have to accept that sometimes you're going to get fucked. I like doing arena as a change of pace from the fucking ladder. Laddering pisses me off way more than arena, but I play it more often too I guess. I've had some nice looking drafts that just got shitstopmed by bad luck/matchups/RNG but I've learned to just throw my hands up about it.

They really do need to give you a choice of packs though. I think Alex mentioned it the other day but the average player must need classic cards a lot more than GvG. I've been playing a long time and I still never get anything good out of GvG. Most of the epics and legendaries just aren't that great unfortunately and by now I have most of what I'd use. I try to think of what I'd like to open and its like...Toshely, meh...Echo of Medivh, gimmicky and not even run in most popular mages now definitely not a must-have...there's hardly anything I want but still legends from classic that I could use but don't feel like spending dust on.

Im in the same boat. At least with the ladder you have crafted a solid deck with some real rules on what you will face. Not a fan of randomly facing guys with 4 swipes or 4 fireballs, etc. In the ladder, at least they have the same percentage to get their bombs as other players. As you also mention, time is a huge factor. The top arena classes are usually fairly slow. Add in people who like to waste the most time possible per match and it's just not very fun. I'd rather get steamrolled by hunters who at least crush me in about 5 minutes.

I've been really enjoying oil rogue now. I didn't find it super complicated, but the premise is to keep the board clear as they exhaust their removals and shit, then move in for the kill. A lot of people don't see it coming for some reason.

Its a deck that really punishes you for going for the face instead of maintaining board control. Got me to rank 8 pretty quickly.

It must be Absurd day in Hearthstone.

Athene claiming he just invented face hunter then took some pre-recorded footage, editing all the losses out then super imposing a live camera on top of it so he seems like he is playing haha

That goes beyond try hard. How did this guy get famous again?

Because the current Mage meta is going to stay exactly the same.

Card still looks lame.

I dunno, I really like Dragon's Breath. It is a nice effect and looks pretty versatile, in the worst situation it's a bit bad but I think not-worst situations will make up for that. And it's a neat effect WITHOUT RNG which is a bonus at this point :p

I mean I guess it's free 4 damage the turn you Flamestrike(not even), but it's looks pretty crappy when you've got better spells that are guaranteed to be cheap. Would you really ever take it over a Frostbolt?

The more I think about it the more obviously terrible the card is.
