Damn, that could really use some new character models. The 3D on 2D is kind of weird.

I think that player run servers are going to become the future of MMO's.

this.

I've been saying this same fucking thing for years. Custom servers increase the longevity of a game.

Diablo 1 era graphics, awesome.. Mobile games have (much) better graphics these days.
Some of the design concepts sound interesting but gameplay didn't wow me.. pass

PC & MAC only. I'm out.

Unless Pantheon is extremely compelling, I doubt I'll ever play another game on PC. All they're good for these days are FPS and RTS games, and I'm long done with those genres.

Yeah man... TVs have gotten so big and so cheap. PC graphics have been dumbed down to insane degrees to suit console ports. The mmorpg genre is dead... My eyes are getting old and higher frame rates don't even register for me any more - they only matter for twitch games which haven't really tickled my pickle for a while. What exclusives am I gonna miss out on? Star Citizen? A couple strategy sims? meh.

I'm done sinking the money and the space in my home into my PC.

Now that he doesn't have to sink tens of thousands unto upgrading his massive full tower computer every year he can afford a bigger place.

How small is your home?

About 1400sq ft. - Turned my old computer room into a toy room for my kid. Now his shit isn't all over the living space of the house. Quality of life +10.

Sure, a gaming PC isn't some insane expense, but it's at least double what a console is. GPU upgrades every 3 years ($200), monitor ($200) & full rig upgrades ($700) every 6.... It's actually probably closer to triple.

The cost:benefit just doesn't work out for me any more.

You don't require an office at home at all? Seems odd.

You're upgrading too much imo

Those prices are Canadian, keep in mind.

Also, if I'm not upgrading that much I'm barely ahead of the graphical output of consoles... Further diminishing the benefits of PC gaming. You have to spend a certain amount for it to even makes sense IMO.

I don't really disagree with most of your numbers there but why are you upgrading monitors every three years?

You just misread it. Monitors get bought with every new rig generally - 6 years.

I mean... Maybe I could see an argument for a living room PC setup... But to get something that looks decent enough to be on display in the main area of the house it's extra coin for the tower... Then what do I do? Shop for a TV table that's the perfect height so I can play with a KB/M while perched on the edge of my couch?

I'd rather lounge with a controller.

steam link imo.

Haven't bought a new PC since November 2013, and I don't even remember my Steam info...

Last rig was an i7-2600k, 12gb DDR3, and a GTX 780 that I grabbed used. Then I sold the GPU when it was still getting a good price before the 900 series launched and downgraded to a 760 since my PC playtime dropped so viciously shortly after PS4 launch. The only game I was still playing was TRIBES: Ascend, and the 780 was overkill. Monitor was a Dell P2414H.

It's sitting in my basement collecting dust.

I'm the exact opposite. I hate 'lounging' when I'm playing so I hate the whole couch/console experience. Haven't bought a console since the release generation of the PS3. For me it's less about needing my PC to have better graphics than the consoles and more about modability/flexability of the platform. Also helps that I don't have any rugrats so I don't need to make room for them.

Found your problem! :D

I've been using the same tower PC since 2011, with one upgrade in the Summer of 2015: GTX 580 -> GTX 970. Have been using one of the monitors since like 2009? And the 2nd I bought in 2011 when I built the tower. Still run everything on very high/ultra np. I7 2600k, 8gigs DDR3, Win7 x64, GTX 970, couple SSD's.

Not sure why you upgrade monitors every 6 years, those things are expensive for decent ones.

Oh the monitor thing isn't a hard and fast rule. Just an average. $200 every 6 years seems like a realistic figure. If I bought some $500 monster on the cusp of a technological era, I'm sure I wouldn't upgrade for close to a decade, or until flaws started popping up in the display.

Does Smed still view these boards? Any reps of Pixelmage? Why no PS4 release?
