A digital only TCG gives them so much design space going forward, things that Wizards can never do with Magic because of physical limitations.

Even if it starts out as basically a Magic clone, they should be able to move forward with some radical stuff.

From the video I quoted - after he finishes his game, he tools about in the deck builder for a bit, and each card has three equipment icons
Oh, nice catch. I expect the UI is off. They've said 2 pieces of equipment per card a couple of times. The fact that all of those are boot, chest, glove makes me think that maybe all those icons are meant to represent one "Take me to the equipment" button instead of actually representing individual pieces of equipment for those cards.

After the WoW TCG being good(which I never expected), I have full faith in this to be awesome. Not to mention when you throw in things like raids, this is one of the things I'm most hyped for.

Obligatory article posting:http://hextcg.com/interview-with-a-supervillain/

Some more lore for another dungeon. James Bond style supervillain world destroying dwarf. Fairly amusing, but no meat other than the card spoilers. Argus looks like a pretty good game ender. Could theoretically get it out turn 6 if you drew it in your opening hand even without mana acceleration, and dwarves do seem to have a couple of good artifact cheapening tricks. It's amusing theme if nothing else. And inferno is just straight up burn. Probably good in pure red. Depends on the prevalence of constant destruction. I never liked playing sligh decks, personally. Effective, but just not a lot of fun.

People don't really seem interested in the article play by play, but today's Kickstarter update has some semi-big news. The 1.5 million to unlock tablets was hit. They announced that any future stretch goals would be for post-release. 1.8 million is the next one and it will be a book by some known fantasy author. Most interesting bit is that if we hit that, we get *alpha* access also.

And hell, since I'm posting anyway, how ridiculous is this card?http://hextcg.com/wp-content/uploads...n_Gear_Web.png

I keep checking hoping some random pro player will drop out... I know itsw not going to happen... but damn, I really want to spend that $250.

Come on, keep going. Open up that alpha... D:
I expect we'll hit 1.8 million pretty easily. Only need around 33k a day to reach that, and with the recent kick-it-forward from Project Eternity bringing in some more people, the past couple of days have been above 50k. Sort of doubt we'll hit anything past that unless there's a larger than average surge in the past 24 hours, or they open up another tier as appealing as pro player or grand king were. This has been a strange kickstarter for trends though, so who knows.

Have you been using the plugin trick? Use something that auto-reloads the page looking for the tier you're interested in. I believe you can configure auto refresh plus for chrome to do thishttps://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...cpelijih?hl=en. Just have it search for "1 of 913", set it to notify you with a chime or some such and let it do its thing. You'll probably want to pre enter a 250$ bid though. There's lots of people hunting, and you want to minimize the time it takes you claim one as much as possible.

There's going to be a lot of these in flux on the last day. Plenty of unscrupulous people sitting on them to make a quick buck, etc. If it doesn't look like you'll get one, just make sure you turn down your bid from 250$ to whatever you actually want to pay before time runs out.

Thanks for that! I used a similar program to grab a video card back when they were selling out within seconds of new ones going up, but couldn't find anything like that for Kickstarter, I'll see if I can make it work!

Quick question - I could have sworn I read they were looking at legal issues as far as buying / selling cards to other players goes. I see a comment on the kickstarter page saying "Robust Auction House!" with very little info. Are we able to buy/sell to other players for real money or is it limited to some in game currency? Basically, if I were to invest in this, could I re-sell some of my money back, or is it all in-no out?

MTGO has the following, and as a near clone, legally they are going to face similar issues for tournaments.

2.2 Tournaments and Events.

(a) Eligibility (United States). You must be physically located in a U.S. state in which participation in the tournaments offered through the Game Service is unrestricted by law. Rules governing sweepstakes, contests and tournaments with entry fees and/or prizes are established by individual states. Based on those laws, residents of the following states may not participate in fee-based tournaments with prizes through the Game Service: Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Nevada, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont and Washington.

I am no lawyer but if they didn't implement a real money auction house but instead let third parties handle real money transactions wouldn't that let them get around that?

It's going to vary state by state on exactly what is causing it to be illegal. But basically an entry fee for a game that depends on chance that allows you to win something that has a monetary value associated with it is what most probably claim.

What's guaranteed to be in - an AH where you can buy/sell cards off/to other people with platinum, an in-game currency you buy with real money.

What's currently engaged in legal wrangling - selling the platinum back to crypto for real money, i.e. 'cashing out'. This would make them a 'money transmitting service' with an international scope, and comes with a massive amount of headaches, regulations and scrutiny.

I expect they are running scared of the recent crackdowns by the IRS on virtual exchanges, and want to make really sure they aren't going to be suddenly facing 20 years for tax evasion and money laundering.

Currently there will be a secondary market and CZ seems to be just fine with that. They would love to have a RMAH for their cards but they are working on the legal for that, so it's not a definite no.

Oh my God...Georgia is not on that list??? Sweet.

Please Please hit the 1.8 marker. I would LOVE Alpha access. The name reservation is kind of nice as well.

The ability to buy and sell cards for potential real money is what will make this game. Trading cards is fine, but there needs to be a tangible value for this to be a complete success. As such, they have already stated that they have no problem with a secondary market and so sites will soon be popping up that encourage this practice.

New Hex article up with some more information about the PvE side of things.http://hextcg.com/exclamation-points...uestion-marks/

Still sounding pretty great to me. Looks like they've got a pretty wide range of things you can do in the single player experience. I like the idea of having to pick a faction and stick with it permanently, maybe just because I want an excuse to do things differently on my alts. I'm sure this will be a turn off to people without altitis.

The card spoilers aren't anything incredibly new. A milling effect for blue that seems pretty solid. Escalation is going to be nasty in long term control decks. It's sort of interesting that there's more long-term defense against milling in this than in M:TG. In M:TG, unless you can bring stuff back from the graveyard, you just need to beat them before they run you out of cards, but in Hex there's so many opportunities that add new cards to your deck to help counter the effect.

I'd assume that some will drop as the timer hits 1 and 2 days left. I'm sitting on mine debating whether or not I really want to drop $250 in a game that probably won't keep my interest more than a few months.

Not guaranteeing I'm going to drop, but it is possible (and I'll probably post here and send PMs if I do) and I'd assume I'm not the only one.
