Any experience with cabinetry? How difficult is installing prefab cabinets? Base and uppers.
I haven't done it myself, but a semi-handy coworker did (I believe Ikea ones) and this was the only home project that defeated him. You apparently get to learn how out of square your walls really are and all sorts of shimming techniques in order to do it right. I'm sure there's some practical ways you could design your cabinets that mitigates these challenges - I think corners are where things really went awry.

We did the cabinets to go on our last remodel. I had to go out of town for a few days for work and when I got back the Wife had assembled most of them.. if that tells you anything.

I did Cabinets To Go when we redid our kitchen around a decade ago. If you have a basic nail gun and moderate competency using it then assembly of them is pretty easy peasy. Once I got an idea of the scope of the project through the guy at the CtG store showed me how he had a contractor who would come assemble/hang/mount them for $40 a cabinet and I was quickly sold on signing over that work.

I watched as the guy put them in, You'd be good to have a few specialty tools like the hoist/supports to push/hold the upper cabinets in place while you shim/mount/adjust them. You will want a good set of levels, both traditional and probably a tripod mounted laser one. And if you're like me you'll want as assistant (I watched this guy do it solo, but quickly realized I wouldn't try that).

As others have said, it comes down to a lot of small things like how level and square your stuff is. You will need shims no matter what.

IKEA and newer stuff use rails for uppers so you get your rail perfect then hang the uppers.

Lowers, most mid and above like ikea have feet you can adjust others just shims.

If your doing granite tops- it must be super level or it will crack - good installers wont install if its not right.

A buddy always helps. If your not seeking no gap seam feel perfection, then watch some applicable YouTube etc and see how ya feel.

Ok this douchebag hasn't come back to seal this shit so I paid him less money than he asked.

What sealer should I get for this? It's stamped concrete and his patch is just some regular concrete with some acrylic or filler or something to make it not break so easily.

Just ask your wife to give you another kneeler, but this time leave *some* light so you can aim correctly.

I had a random instagram thing today about some kids starting a concrete repair business and not knowing what they were doing. As usual I just skip the video and read the comments for people telling them what they should do.

Most of the comments suggested using: Concrete Crack Repair

These were for more substantial cracks. Just funny it came up at about the same time you posted.

edit: I guess you're asking to seal on top of it, not seal the crack. Well, maybe others have better suggestions.

Are you in a large enough place that you can call a contractor that specializes in stamped concrete and ask them? If that's all you have, it's probably not worth a companies time but that don't mean they cannot help you out. I do it all the time with electrical questions.

I was just asked to flip a house for someone. It needs everything, 17 new windows, 2 new exterior doors, new exterior front door trim (very ornate, available in PVC), new overhead lights in every room (including closets), upgrade to 200 amp service (so new box), completely new kitchen and 2 completely new bathrooms, and refinish the entire house (1,300 square feet) hardwood floors. Also, add a bathroom in the basement (have to cut concrete and put in an ejector pump). They want it done by June 1. The house has already sold, and they want in at the beginning of June.

Am I being over ambitious to think I can get this done with 3 guys? I think we can get all electric done in 3 days, all the demo is already done (except 2 nonloadbearing walls), windows will take a week at most, can get a kitchen installed in a day provided we spend a day doing plumbing first, get all plaster/drywall/paint done in a week, give the floors the final 2 weeks. Am I crazy?

Okay, here we are mid-August. They did get to move in the first week of June. I had everything inside done, except for punch-list things from the inspections and buyer wishes and wants. Today I finished everything on the exterior (new siding in all the dormers, all gutters and drip edge and downspouts painted, new iron railings on the front walk, replace 2 garage doors, build an overhang over the deck and clad it in steel, had to cut up old bricks to cover over two windows that went away, 200 linear feet of new privacy fence, removal of six trees, new concrete patio (18x24), new ornamental trim around the front door, dig a trench and install a new post-light at the front of the house, caulk/paint around all the new windows, tear out old driveway and prep for new cement, build 100 foot retaining wall with existing limestone on property. There's more, I'm sure I'm forgetting things, but as of today it is all done and approved, and I'm outta that property that was a risk to take on, and I'm so glad it went well.

Here are some pictures.

Basement just starting and then the basement standing in the same spot now.

Back of house before and after the overhang was attached.

Dormer siding, one done, one not.
