Minecraft really is a big "you don't know about the current gaming sphere" type phenomenon for most people over 40. If you took the "biggest" games most people think of, at their boom peak, the top 4 probably don't beat minecraft on a random Thursday in 2019.

It's a scale that's sometimes even hard to really grok. And it seems to be sticking around through the generations and every child grows up playing it so I don't really see it going anywhere.

If Hytale can grab even 1% of that base they'll be rich.

Minecraft is closing in on 400 MILLION lifetime sales.

This game is basically Minecraft 2, made by the largest player in the existing Minecraft hosting/custom/mod space and has been floating around in development for like 10 years now.

The available pool of players for this game is in another universe relative to most PC games.

minecraft sales don't include the education edition users, there are something like 35 million active accounts.

So, this game is very pretty (for a block game), and combat is much smoother than i had even hoped for... even early on. I wish i had more time to play it tonight, I'm having a good time in it.

Started world and walk outside.
Hole in the ground 3 blocks from the stairs. Spend a day cycle gathering rubble, sticks, sap and fiber. Make tools to go mining in the hole. Fall down a pit inside hole and land in the middle of an underground city and get passed around like a twink in a bear party.

10/10 experience

My kids never got into Minecraft and I’m okay with that.
It’s actually one I like my kid playing, they get really creative and aren’t doing gay ass Fortnite emotes.

Coworkers son became a project manager for a construction company straight out of college and makes fuckin bank at 25 years old. He attributes it to playing Minecraft getting him interested in building things.

It’s a shitty looking, boring sandbox game to us old gamers that like narratives and deep combat/stat/strategy games but it’s great for kids.
