Minecraft really is a big "you don't know about the current gaming sphere" type phenomenon for most people over 40. If you took the "biggest" games most people think of, at their boom peak, the top 4 probably don't beat minecraft on a random Thursday in 2019.
Minecraft is closing in on 400 MILLION lifetime sales.
This game is basically Minecraft 2, made by the largest player in the existing Minecraft hosting/custom/mod space and has been floating around in development for like 10 years now.
The available pool of players for this game is in another universe relative to most PC games.
don't know how much, but if you use creators name/code when buying the game, they get some money.not seeing #ad in any titles so it being sponsorships isn't a thing.

It’s actually one I like my kid playing, they get really creative and aren’t doing gay ass Fortnite emotes. My kids never got into Minecraft and I’m okay with that.

I'm fairly deep into the game I think at ~14 hours or so. So far it's kind of half way between Minecraft and Valheim with a lot of the exploration tiering system feeling like Valheim and some of the mechanics and quality of life from Minecraft mods.
I'd say it'd be pretty fun for a family to play through. Maybe some builder types, but for hardcore gamers I think right now it's got a pretty low ceiling, but that's partially intentional due to the main Dev wanting modders to really take the wheel and them only being able to update this for the last two months or so after getting it back from Riot.
I would say it's VERY polished and smooth for EA. A lot of shit in this should probably be ported into base Minecraft (auto suck from chests near crafters and vaulting come to mind). If you're looking for 100+ hours and you're not a "LETS RECREATE KELETHIN" type I don't think you'll find it... yet.
It also has built in modding tools which I haven't dabbled with but I can already see some hopefully easy to implement mods that I'd try to make that could make the game even deeper and more interesting.
Guess lead Dev said on his admin panel an hour ago they hit 2.8 million players ONLINE.

That's what I've been waiting for. I always liked minecraft, but having to sign into a ms account is about as hard a pass as I can think of. If this game goes on steam I'll 100% buy it.Can’t be true, its not on steam
