In defense of law enforcement not getting involved in these situations..it is bc they are unpredictable and could have you losing your job rather quickly.

There isn't a whole lot of advice to give in this situation bc it was handled so poorly from the beginning.

He's not posting anyones information, I don't see how in the everloving fuck some lawyer is going to get some computer forensic specialists to go on his PC and find out what forum he's posting on. He's literally only provided that she's a stripper in vegas and that is it.

This isn't the fucking OJ trial dude. How the fuck is some third rate lawyer going to track OP down to a gaming forum?
Seriously man, she doesn't know, its not like he gave us her number and real life name and FB page to harass her.

You should totally do that though Onoes, it will help a lot if the lurking ghost of Foler and Tyen's bots all start spamming her ass.

Even if a lawyer DID find this random thread, he would find me looking stupid, asking for advice, refusing to release her personal details, and sharing the exact evidence that would already be on the table at trial. I just don't see how that would really be all that damning.

Should I have given her the plates in retrospect? Maybe I guess? This very same thing could still be happening. I was going to mail the plates, but when she refused emailing me a bill of sale I went on the defense, seemed super shady. I don't know.

As for what to do next time, simple, NO NEXT TIME.

And yeah, Texts were at 76 total this afternoon, between me - her - and her boyfriend. Something like 25 from me, 8 from her boyfriend, and 37 from her.

Her boyfriend actually just texted me a few minutes ago, which is why I originally came here, to post the new development, but it's really nothing and I need to go get my friends testimony of events, and to get the receipt from Titlemax out of the glovebox of the car. I'll be back later and post, but its basically him asking to meet up with me again, me saying no thank you, him threatening me again, and me letting him know I won't be communicating via texts anymore.

The thing about holding the plates is that the deal was cash for car, title for plates. Since that's the verbal contract I don't see how you're in the wrong to keep the plates once it started looking like they were going to withhold the title.

Not legally binding, sure. I don't see how that's unreasonable at all. Once you got to that point enforcing that part of the deal was basically the only way this thing DIDN'T wind up wasting some judge's time.

I'm pretty sure a good lawyer will contact the cyber police and just backtrace his IP.

The fact that she tried to text you and claim the title place didn't have the plates, despite the fact that she had already talked to them, shows they aren't trying to do anything that's remotely on the up-and-up though. So we can rule out any lingering chance of misunderstanding or confusion. They are trying to fuck you around somehow.
I thought he said the TitleMax guy told Onoes that he lied and said he didn't have the plates, and then Onoes told him to go ahead and just give them to her?

That is what I said.

So here is what happened tonight. (copied directly, thats his spelling)

BOYFRIEND - Aug 7 - 6:16 p.m. - Well I guess you will need this paperwork o have in my hand now. So when u would like to come get it from myself and I hope u are a really remorseful person for the ass u have made of this situation. And willing to pay the fine u accrued her by not living by your word. So let me know when u wanna meet up thanks.

ME - Aug 7 - 6:21 p.m. - If you have the signed title please take it to TitleMax so they can mail it to me, thank you.

BOYFRIEND - Aug 7 - 6:40 p.m. - Well I think your mistaken u are not the shot caller. Read my text before this will go further fuckd up

ME - Aug 7 - 6:58 p.m. - Mr. (name), I have an appointment with Officer (name) of the Vegas Fraud Division tomorrow morning, and with my lawyer Mr. (name) tomorrow afternoon. I would love to call and cancel both appointments. I don't think I'm calling the shots, and I'm in no way trying to threaten you, I just want this resolved and am being left no choice other than this. I will not be meeting you in person, if you return the title please let me know, but otherwise I'm going to stop communicating with you both. I'm sorry that we are both so unhappy with this situation, but I don't feel further texts will benefit either of us.

Never got a response, which was better than the "fuck you pussy queer bring it on" that I was expecting. I'm sure it was just another attempt at "Meet me so I can beat you up?" but figured I don't lose anything by suggesting. /shrug

More evidence that there was some sort of agreement on the plates.

Like I said before. It just doesn't add up. You have both the boyfriend, and lady referring to the plates and fines. Why would he say "by not living by your word"? It just doesn't make sense. Even the dumbest mother fucking scammers in the universe don't make up some sort of false promise in their head. They just do what they want and don't worry about the repercussions. Pretty sure if they intended to beat the shit out of you they would've skipped this whole ordeal and knocked your ass out in the first encounter then robbed you blind...

When I bought the car and was ready to leave the boyfriend said "Hey, you'll mail the plates back right?" and I said "Yeah, no problem", and the girl wrote down her address. That next week she sent the text asking for the plates and I told her I would mail them when I got the title, and she said ok. Later she changed her mind and wanted them NOW, and I offered to mail them right away if she would email me a bill of sale. She said no, so I didn't mail the plates. Ever since then they are both constantly referring to me not keeping my word, being a liar, etc.

At no point did I say I would mail the plates back before I had a title. They are crazy people. I'm awake right now because I just received this text right now, to which I'm ignoring and going back to bed.

From the boyfriend - fine and dandy with me all I am trying to solve your screw up. And just so u know metro does not involve themselves in civil matters maybe u are just over reacting to all this bullshit. Bottom line is this u tried to pull a fast one and u look stupid doing it as do I myself for letting u take the plates that was not beneficial to her and risky, but u proved that u cannot be belived or trusted. I hope u show this to the police as well. But wait they cannot take texts as evidence as well. So if your not willing to come get the title then I dont know what to tell u but, I hope u grow up one day.

I'm not wasting my time responding to that nonsense, he clearly has everything figured out. I was so close to getting away with my "fast one", the crime of the century! Do you guys know what those plates are worth to tourists? I would have been like printing my own money, if only he hadn't bested me at every turn.

Going back to bed now.

If that's how it transpired I can of see why they might have got a shady feeling from you.

Why wasn't TitleMax physically holding the title instead of having to get a new one from MVA?

They have the plates now right? And all they're trying to extract is payment for some alleged fine?

I still can't figure out why there's a fine for these plates, or what they need them for. But I've never lived in a state that had some arbitrary law about plates which I still don't understand.
