i dunno, that was an HBO show and i stopped watching HBO stuff back in the 90s. i was a Starz guy. plus i dont do new vampire stuff anymore. 30 Days of Night or Let The Right One In(original version) was probably the last time i watched a vamp film.

I'm watching it.
I have read the novels; too many of them.
Aside from the escalation of the gayness in the books, the period switch and the (really unforgivable) age swap of Claudia (yes, race swap too), it's actually a very well-written piece of TV.
It draws a lot from its source material despite its changes. So you end up with some of the more profound bits of text being used as dialogue. This gives it an almost Tarantino quality.
I was wrong and right to prejudge it. They definitely upped the faggotry to 11. But the essential conflicts and the drama remain fairly intact. I am up to episode five and it is quite entertaining (when it is not overwhelmingly, nauseatingly gay). But that's not too much of the time. A black guy who works with me shut it off from episode one saying something (almost exactly like) "real black men can't watch that fag shit. Black fags got to hide it real deep or go to where the white fags are."
Changing Claudia from 5 or 6 years old to what appears to be 18 or 19 is the only deep flaw so far. The turning of a true child into a vampire has been dealt with in other venues as well. It usually is pretty horrific (Let the Right One In / Salem's Lot, etc). But in "Interview" the Claudia character is truly horrible, terrible and tragic. They fucked that up pretty badly.
But, as of episode 5, it's good despite all it's shortcomings. Very well written.

Didn't make it past the first episode. They were sharing a woman and suddenly Louis had to make out with Lestat. I realize Anne Rice was into degenerate shit, but I'm not supporting it. This show is dead to me.

I watched it like a horror movie with serious body-torture scenes; just intracranially tuned out the crap that was out of my comfort zone.
