i like the idea of a 'new' trade deal w/ our biggest trading partner. i'm curious what's new today that wasn't present 6 months ago. and i doubt there's any language in the deal about protecting our IP

I just finished telling you there is no deal. There is no agreement, there isn't even yet a "framework" for a deal. They are making progress on getting closer to agreeing on a framework from which a deal could come.

Trump saying we got 55% is a tactic that he is letting them know that he is okay with not making progress and leaving the tariff . The most they are doing now is trying to bracket the disagreement and agree to the outer bounds they won't let it escalate from. If rare earth metals continue then the US will not escalate beyond 55%

Trump saying "we have a deal with Chyna" is like me saying "I have a deal with my wife for her not to buy any more shoes".
