Jysin Jysin if you dont mind my asking, what was the carry cost to borrow the shares? I know TSLA is one of the more expensive in terms of cost to short. I'm trying to spin up a model for a comparison trade. And how many shares did you short?

Contrary to what Fury said, its illegal to price fix, non-compete, or coordinate schedules with a codeshare partner. Domestically.

Selectively enforced, cause it goes on a lot, some more than others. Most of the airlines changed schedules on the same day at my hub into two grouping of times where everything works together during the pandemic. Probably a coincidence?

The criteria the government tends to look at when investigating these things if there was harm done. Arranging things so some small town gets better service isn't hurting anyone, having similar prices that are reasonable can be attributed to a coincidence. If the airlines all work together and keep a highly profitable price on a route, the fed will come in and slap some wrists.

In my view, there will probably be some quasi-illegal things that go on in coming cuts on a technical level, but since they objectively wont be likely to cause harm and the airlines are in real trouble, I don't think the fed will look too close and the airlines will all pinky-swear its all perfectly legal. This will let the airlines trim some fat and probably benefit the public, so it may help improve my outlook for airlines. Still, probably some rough times ahead in the coming months.

Yeah, it's the only thing keeping me from doing options in Tesla.
Option pricing is pretty good. Implied volatility drives it all. Trading options in something like T or VZ and the cost is cheap as dirt because of the lack of volatility.

The movement you need just to cover the nut on shorting TSLA is why a lot of shorts get burned. If the price goes up $1 you lose $1 but you need the price to drop 20% to make a dollar at that 20% carry cost. That juice isn't worth the squeeze.

Moderna is close to $100 per share now. $35B market cap and they haven't yet dosed a patient for phase 3. Very tempted to sell before the pullback, but I got burned doing that with NVAX so I'm just going to be patient and wait for approvals.

If you are doing short term trading, all the vaccine frontrunners are up 10-20% right now, and I find it hard to believe that a correction isn't coming later today or early next week.

Consider using trailing stop loss orders if you aren't to protect your gains. Set them as tight or loose as your want (5% to 10 or 20%).

I closed out my covered calls on my XOM for a penny. Made about 0.4% of my total position in gains. It aint a ton but I made it in a day and it slowly whittles down my current underwater position in XOM. Next week I rinse and repeat.

i almost pulled the trigger and bought $10K worth of Moderna when it hit $80 a share like 2 days ago, but you spooked me good with your biotech mumbo jumbo

Don't feel that bad, at least moderna's executives are making money dumping lots of stock. I mean if the value's going up, you can hold less and have the same share, right?

NKLA down 17% on top of 7% on Friday. Warrants are able to be executed and people are cashing in. Warrants are executed at $11.50 and can be sold at Friday's close of $48.84. Lots of people cashing in those warrants.
