The IT Crowd is a British sitcom by Channel 4, written by Graham Linehan, produced by Ash Atalla and starring Chris O'Dowd, Richard Ayoade, Katherine Parkinson and Matt Berry. The "IT" in the show's title can be pronounced as either the word it /'?t/, as in "the 'it' crowd", or as the letters IT /?a?'ti?/, as in the abbreviation for information technology.[1]
Set in the London offices of the fictional Reynholm Industries, the show revolves around the three staff members of its IT department: a geeky genius named Maurice Moss (Ayoade), the workshy Roy Trenneman (O'Dowd), and Jen Barber (Parkinson), the department head/Relationship Manager, who knows nothing about IT. The show also focuses on the bosses of Reynholm Industries: Denholm Reynholm (Chris Morris) and his son Douglas (Berry).
The comedy premiered on Channel 4 on 3 February 2006, and ran for four series of 6 episodes each. Although a fifth series was commissioned,[2] Graham Linehan announced in 2011 that there would not be a fifth series. A final feature length episode is to air in late 2013.[3]
The show was the third successful sitcom creation of Graham Linehan, following Father Ted (co-written with Arthur Mathews) and Black Books (co-written with Dylan Moran).

Wish they could have made more episodes, but the actors seem to be doing movies now.


There was an american pilot at one time , not sure what happened to that. Seems like that would do well over here since Big Bang is a success.

The US pilot was pretty bad; it had Joel McHale cast along with Richard Ayoade from the UK show and I think the rest were unknowns. The pilot was essentially a word for word copy of the UK pilot, but the cast just didn't mesh - it felt like a bunch of random people reading lines and was pretty unfunny.

I really tried to watch this show (BBC version, haven't seen US version) but it's just soooo god damn boring and not even remotely funny.
Worse of all that laughing track completely killed it for me.

So I get why Arnold wouldn't like that =P

I love it tho. Been Watching BBC comedies in america since Ive had a tv.

It's like saying that Breaking Bad is my favorite HBO show or that I love Fox Comedies like South Park.

I pulled the whole series off a British coworker's flash drive while I was snooping around. I didn't like it at first, but since I didn't have much of a choice but keep watching it I ended up enjoying it. It is very "British", though, which I guess should be expected for a BBC show.

It was airing on either BBCA or Syfy (or another cable channel) a few years ago and it came out on DVD too . Wont be back, hasn't been on tv since first airing.

Also: there are 3 major networks in Britain. BBC (BBC1-3, CBBC aka Cbeebies), ITV, and Channel 4. Most good shit comes from Channel 4 and BBC (usually BBC1, though BBC2 has good shows).
