Ain’t it the same artist, or at least the same artist set the DQ visual back in the day… its always kinda been “lulz fantasy dbz”

Yes Toriyama did all the monster/characters for DQ 1-11.. 12 is the first one that is fully emulating his style(It's not like its a really hard style to emulate), it's nice to see that they are keeping that style overall.

Older I get the more I say or type something that comes automatically but my brain has started to go "..that doesnt seem right". Leads to a LOT of spell/word checking to make sure I didn't just make something up.
This 100X after brain surgery.

I put little to no stock in what critics have to say, but it's still satisfying to see Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter have the highest score of the year (92) on both aggregate sites. OoT and GTA6 will almost certainly jump ahead before the year is over, but it says a lot about what a shit year this has been when a polished-up version of a game that's over two decades old tops everything else up to this point.

It was even the game that finally got me to buy a Switch 2 before the price bump, just so I could go with the superior physical copy since GungHo weren't assholes and didn't go with a game-key card.

I've never been in this thread because I kinda don't like jprgs, but a friend has a sega of some sort set up to stream and showed me Grandia. It was a spooky castle, very mistmoorelike, and just looked so cool. Super low poly.

i was in alaska for 3 weeks (2 weeks cruise) and had my switch 2 and played exclusively lunar 1 remastered. Pretty fun game, really simple JRPG and i guess the remaster added a ton of QoL stuff like auto battle and simpler inventory management. Only put about 15 hours in but its a perfect vacay game, since you can save anywhere so no worry about quick 5-30 min sessions, auto battle means combat isn't tedious or require a ton of attention, and the story is pretty simple but it feels like there is always stuff to do since all NPCs have constantly changing (based on story) 1-2 short text snippets.

reminded me a lot of sea of stars, good and bad. has that "hopeful anime optimism" vibe some people will hate but i like, the story beats are obvious hours ahead of "shocks", but there is just something chill and soothing about it. dunno if the sale is still on but i paid $28 for digital copy and got both 1 & 2 remastered, and it includes the original versions if you'd rather play old school way.

it is turn based JRPG and you can manually make each move or just turn on auto battle which has options for playing offensive/defensive, using spells, items, etc
