I don't get the hate for the females in the show. The mom and daughter are fucking hilarious and add that over the top comedic element to bounce off BBT's dry humor delivery. Ali Larter's dinner scene was fucking great.

It reminds me of all the people who hated the husband on the Black List because he was a boring, useless, two dimensional character who didnt add value to the show until... you find out that's exactly what he was supposed to be acting like.

Basically Sheridan is Nicholson's character from As Good as It Gets. He writes women as men without reason and accountability. It's unusual in today's media which is maybe why the characters are a bit jarring.
Anyone who's worked in a coed professional environment has seen some form of Demi's behavior; can't get motivated by a billion dollar deal but the chance to fuck up a younger version of herself and she perks right up. YS Beth was the same way.
In any case, if you made it through S1 tolerating or even liking the females S2 seems to be on the same arc. Shame we haven't seen the lawyer chick yet though. She's my fav even if her acting and character (looking at you deposition scene) suck.
