Her kid wasn't at risk of being killed by Hal !

He suggested they move somewhere isolated to keep him safe and she disagreed because that would make him miss his championship football game.

That is like shooting the firefighter trying to get you and your child out of a burning apartment because your kid's favorite show is on.
